The Scribe's role in the ophthalmic clinic is to assist the physician in such a way as to increase productivity through efficiency and aiding in clinic flow. Internal communication to patients and staff, anticipating the physician's needs, and multi-tasking. Previous experience is an advantage but all training will be provided in-house. This is a great opportunity to grow within the organization and become certified in the Ophthalmic Technician Field.
Keys to Success in this Role May Include :
• Record details of the physical exam and procedures
• Capture medical history, diagnoses & follow-up instructions in EHR
• Document the assessment and plan as directed by the provider
• Assist provider in submitting orders, patient flow and other misc tasks
• Bilingual / Spanish speaker
Core Competencies:
• Accurate & timeous data entry in EHR
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted medical abbreviations
• Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details
• Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
• Typing speed in excess of 30 words per minute
• High level of written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the healthcare team
• Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families
• Dependable and motivated
• Previous Scribe experiences a plus
Education/Experience:
• High school diploma required
• Pre-health career track preferred. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy strongly preferred
• EHR experience preferred

Pay: $14.00 - $14.50 per hour
