Full Job Description JOB SUMMARY
The Paralegal will provide support to in-house attorneys and case managers in all aspects of litigation and file management, including database management and reporting. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining billing compliance with outside counsel and communicating issues with internal and external parties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manage database and provide reporting to management related to defense counsel compliance with guidelines
• Provide back-up support for various attorneys located in Hillsborough County
• Prepare notices and hearing folders
• Schedule and calendar all events for each case
• File, serve and provide courtesy copies of all relevant documents
• Prepare proposed responses to all discovery
• Propound discovery approved by an attorney
• Handle case file maintenance, including indexing and following up on outstanding matters
• Receive and review invoices from multiple defense firms and assure compliance with billing guidelines
• Communicate with defense counsel related to billing issues/guideline compliance
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Property insurance defense and litigation experience preferred
• Must be self-managed and be able to work independently
• Solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail in meeting deadlines
• Advanced knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Must have an ability to use Florida’s E-Filing System and other relevant web-based systems
• Ability to accurately process a variety of tasks and high volumes of work in a fast-paced environment
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written
• Resourceful research and analytical skills
• Holds a high level of professionalism
EDUCATION & TRAINING
• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of five (5) years of Paralegal experience
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
• Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-certified program preferred
