POSITION CONCEPT
The Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Analyst is a technical resource with a background in Distribution Grid Modeling, Distribution Planning, and DMS and OMS (Outage Management System) functionality .  They design and deliver TECO’s control systems related applications and provide ongoing customer support to ensure reliable performance and world-class customer satisfaction. They collaborate on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) and utilize appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with our IT architecture for commissioning hardware and software applications for Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops software of moderate complexity based on specifications provided.
• Implements software packages for which moderate configuration and integration is required; interaction with vendor resources remotely or onsite may be required.
• Integrates applications with moderately complex interfaces based on specifications provided.
• Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission-critical.
• Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates with review by more senior staff.
• Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables with review by more senior staff.
• Participates on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager, senior team members, or project managers.  May function as Technical Lead on small projects.
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.
• Acquires and maintains appropriate technical skills.
SUPERVISION
Provides no direct supervision, but may be assigned a leadership role that could include overseeing contract resources and/or junior staff.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Interacts with all levels of team members throughout the TECO Energy companies.  Frequently interacts with other IT support groups.
External: Interacts with outside consulting firm personnel and software and hardware vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration,                                                        Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline.
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines.
Related Experience
Required:           1+ year(s) of experience in system analysis, design, and development. College level courses acceptable within IT or Engineering disciplines.
Preferred: 2+ years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
2+ years of work experience at an electric utility company supporting distribution planning and/or operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:
• Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Good verbal, written, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.  Effectively presents information to their team and department as needed.
• Understands project plans and can clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.  Develops project plans for small projects with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Comprehends technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture.  Authors technical design specifications for small projects.
• Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts of (SQL, C#, VB.net) programming languages and use of developer tools such as (PL/SQL Developer, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio with Team Foundation Server).
• Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of electric utility operation and control.
• Experience in data analysis, outage management, SCADA, distribution automation (DA), circuit coordination, post disturbance analysis.
• Knowledge of distribution systems, GIS, Volt-Var Optimization (VVO), Distributed Energy Resources (DER), protection, and smart grid technologies.
