ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The College of Nursing is one of the four colleges in USF Health at the University of South Florida, and offers Baccalaureate, Masters, and Doctoral programs.  The college is part of the second largest university in the Southeast and one of three Research 1 Universities in the Florida State University System.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Human Resources will serve as the head of the Human Resources unit. As a key business partner to the management team, the Assistant Director will lead and create initiatives, systems, and best practices to support the college's efforts to attract, develop, and retain a diverse and high-performing workforce that embraces innovation, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration. The Assistant Director will report to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruitment, On-boarding, and Orientation: Actively recruit a diverse candidate pool and manage complete process to maintain and build a team with organizational mission and skill requirements. Lead the HR team to provide advice and counsel to hiring managers on employment and recruitment practices. Engage in continuous improvement to ensure the college's recruitment and onboarding process to meet needs. Ensure introduction of new staff is welcoming.
• Professional Development & Performance Management: Train and coach supervisors to navigate evaluation, training, promotion, discipline, termination, and other performance issues. Ensure staffing skills and levels are aligned with needs and available resources of the organization. Guide and support managers to provide employees with clear expectations and standards for the job, tools, and training, constructive feedback and timely performance evaluations.
• Employee Engagement: Partner with senior leaders to define and drive workplace culture, and share the overall responsibility for overall organizational performance. Drive employee engagement by working with executive leadership to develop effective internal communications strategies, processes, tools, and training to promote morale and productivity. Create a respectful, diverse, energetic workplace culture that celebrates milestones, goals and achievements. Perform exit interviews and climate/satisfaction/engagement surveys.
• Comp/Class & Payroll: Ensure that the administration of various compensation programs are in compliance with established guidelines, processes and procedures. Research, implement, and maintain salary scales to standardized salary ranges across the Institute and relative to peer organizations.
• Unit Administration: Develop and improve administrative processes. Lead a team of HR and administrative staff to take positive action and accountability for their responsibilities. Oversee all office management activities, including travel, calendar, reports, correspondence, presentations, etc. Establish a system/workflow for managing HR and admin documentation.
• Data reporting and compliance: Ensure quality of data and data reporting. Serve as the data custodian of college human resources data. Work with college leadership to respond to both internal and external requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED:
• Previous experience of at least one year in a college administrative, HR or academic unit.
