SUMMARY: This position provides a wide range of credit related support functions relative to the Bank's risk management process. Specifically, this role will be the support for Portfolio Management related processes for an assigned portfolio of existing loans within Credit Center. The Credit Center Portfolio Manager will also exercise individually assigned lending authority, as granted by the BankUnited Board of Directors, to underwrite loans in accordance with Bank policy and regulatory safety and soundness standards. This position primarily supports the BankUnited Credit Center, but may be called upon to support other divisions as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
• Portfolio Management • Serve as support contact for lending relationships, and closely communicate/escalate all critical issues items to the assigned portfolio to Credit Center Credit Officer(s), as needed. • Manage payment delinquencies, past due insurance renewals and real estate tax payments, with the assistance of the Credit Center Portfolio Management Assistant. • Actively review and manage Bank’s tickler items, with the assistance of the Credit Center Portfolio Management Assistant. • Responsible for collection of financial information reporting in line with applicable loan agreements. This shall include preparation and follow-up of information request letters and communications to/with clients. • Ensure early detection of potentially deteriorating credit quality within assigned loan portfolio upon receipt of financial or other information. • Manage potential default situations in accordance with Bank procedure. • Conduct covenant testing on lending relationships where covenants are required to be tested per the loan and credit agreement and/or credit approval. • Assure portfolio is appropriately risk rated at all times. Generate risk rating changes forms for upgrading or downgrading lending relationships as needed. • Proactively manage criticized assets with heightened level of documented client communication and interaction, and establish acceptable actions plan to address identified concerns. • Prepare Criticized Asset Report (CARs) forms for presentation at quarterly Criticized Asset Committee (CAC). Shall prepare Line Criticized Asset Reports (LCARs) for those loans that fall below the CAC threshold. • Responsible for transfer of criticized assets to the Workout and Recovery department (WAR) when applicable • Ensure proper documentation and organization of Credit Center credit files. • Order appraisals and complete appraisal reviews for criticized assets/modifications/renewals, or as otherwise required by a Credit Center Credit Officer and/or Management. • Facilitate new money transactions by monitoring request from time of commitment letter acceptance through closing. This shall include, but is not limited to, working with BankUnited Lenders and Loan Administration to ensure smooth and timely transition from application to closing.
• UNDERWRITING • Perform all annual reviews, renewals, OCA/ACH facility and modifications of existing loans within assigned portfolio in a timely manner. May also assist teammates with overflow of work from other Portfolio Managers, as deemed necessary by Management. • Review Credit Bureau Investigation and identify applicable risk. • Research industries and industry trends, as applicable. • Analyze lien & judgment and due diligence searches. • Review personal tax returns and business financial statements. • Perform and analyze global cash flow and risk rating analysis. • Review and/or spread financial statements. • Perform and complete a comprehensive analysis of business financial statements. • Identify CRA eligible credit opportunities. • Proactively address and/or seek approval for identified credit risk with the Credit Officer. • Prepare and/or finalize a Credit Approval Memorandum, including finalizing loan terms and conditions. • Approve or deny new loan requests within individually assigned lending authority, within accepted bank policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines. • Review and interpret personal and business tax returns and financial statements provided, and perform cash flow and comprehensive global cash flow analyses using Bank approved global cash flow worksheet and approved financial spreading software. • Specify appropriate conditions for loan renewal/modification approval. • Evaluate requests for credit and approve or deny based on authority level within accepted Bank policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines. Shall seek higher approval authority as required by Total Credit Exposure (TCE).
• OTHER DUTIES • Proactively maintain a clear and up-to-date understanding of Bank Credit Policy and Procedure. • Provide support to BankUnited Lenders, branch personnel and/or loan processors by answering queries and providing training on basic lending issues. • Participate in training seminars and workshops to enhance skill level. • Perform all required regulatory training in a timely manner, as required by the Bank. • Perform special projects as assigned and deemed necessary by Bank and/or Management. • Collaborate with all Bank personnel and management for purpose of managing assigned loan portfolio, identifying and communicate cross-sell opportunities to BankUnited Lenders, and appropriately managing credit risk within assigned portfolio. • More experienced Portfolio Managers provide training and mentoring to other members of the Credit Center. • Other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 4-6 Years related work experience in credit and/or portfolio management Alternate combination of education and experience may be considered required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Formal credit training, or comparable work experience required
