Manpower Engineering is seeking a Product Technology Metallurgical Engineer for our client in the Owensboro, KY area. Direct/perm hire with a great relocation package.
The individual in this position will use his/her knowledge to build and curate technical knowledge of metallurgical aspects of rolled aluminum products and the critical processes used to create them, discover innovative solutions to technical problems, develop new products in order to meet our customers' requirements and to enter new markets, support product implementation and customer qualification, improve existing products to satisfy internal goals or customer needs, and to create, improve and standardize the processes required to make these products in order to ensure customer satisfaction. This position requires an individual with technical ability, a passion for new technology, and excellent communication skills.
Here's a summary of who we're seeking:
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering, Metallurgical/materials science engineering is preferred. An advanced degree is also preferred.
• Experience with aluminum alloys (5000/6000 series), methods of their manufacture including all critical aspects of thermomechanical processing, and detailed knowledge of international standards for aluminum products.
• Detailed knowledge of all supplied markets, product requirements, and customer processes and applications from a wide range of customers, especially those in the automotive industry.
• 3-10+ years of related industrial experience, preferably in Aluminum Automotive Body Sheet Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of quality techniques such as FMEA, MSA, PPAP, APQP.
• Technical and process management skills are needed in this position, with potential ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved.
• Ability to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case by case basis as encountered.
