Full Job Description Come join our GTE Financial team!
We are looking for an organized, detail oriented, and dedicated individual to join as a Repossession Specialist . The Repossession Specialist maintains and coordinates repossession inventory for timely disposition and equitable value. Handles state-required post-repossession letter process and interacts daily with multiple vendors supporting the business needs. This position works closely with management to mitigate risks and minimize losses.
What does GTE look for in a Repossession Specialist ?
Repossession:
• Under general supervision will work in accordance with well-established policies and procedures as it applies to repossession accounts.
• Monitor sales inventory to ensure timely liquidation of repossessed units.
• Utilize available book value resources and analyze market trends to ensure proper liquidation value is attained.
• Understand and interpret FDCPA and applicable state laws including FCCPA.
• Work, review, and monitor all queues related to repossessions (and those out for repo), ensuring satisfactory account coverage and follow-up, including skip-tracing as needed.
• Identify and refer qualified accounts already out for repossession to the CPI Insurance area for filing of skip claims.
• Communicate and negotiate with members who contact the credit union post-repossession, whether it be for redemption, personal property recovery, etc.
• Receive and review repossession updates, condition reports, and oversee transportation logistics of repossessed inventory.
• Correspond and interact with attorneys, dealers and insurance providers.
• Produce and send deficiency balance letters post-sale and recommend accounts for charge-off.
• Handle post-charge off deficiency balances including collections, referring for legal action and or collection agency
• Handle the processing of tow liens, voluntary surrenders and skip claims.
• Coordinate the transfer/release of titles / liens to auctions for timely liquidation of units.
• Coordinates repossession assignments and/or recovery actions with repossession agents/vendors.
Customer Support:
• Consistently communicates in a positive and professional manner under all circumstances. Treats others with courtesy and respect. Demonstrates effective listening and negotiation skills. Consistently seeks positive and mutually beneficial solutions.
• Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees (internal customers) to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.
• Always provides prompt, courteous, and exceptional member service.
• Ready to support members and team by being timely, prepared, and ready to assist members by delivering a great experience with a positive attitude.
• Manage third party external vendors, approve vendor invoices and resolve any invoice disputes issues.
Operations:
• Prepare all daily and monthly repossession and liquidation reports.
• Documents all repossession actions in the collections software system in a timely manner to ensure accuracy and support management of collateral in inventory.
• Prepares and mails required communication to members and/or attorneys after collateral has been repossessed; ensures that actions are in accordance with applicable state and federal statutes.
• Ensures that collateral is delivered or picked up by an approved vendor or auction in preparation for remarketing.
• Reviews accounts and files any/all insurance claims, warranty cancelations, and physical damage claims, as applicable.
• Receives and processes payments /refunds from insurance claims / cancellations.
• Monitors accounts during claim process to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Post repossession proceeds from general ledger and recommend all deficiency balances for charge off.
• Utilize strong communication and negotiation skills, as needed.
• Have a general knowledge of the Credit Union policies and state/federal regulations regarding all products.
• Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees (internal customers) to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.
• For the purpose of attaining Credit Union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for the continuous improvement of processes and quality service to internal and external customers.
• Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in collections or combination of education and experience.
• Previous auto repossession and liquidation experience desired.
Required for Remote Work :
• A quiet workplace so you can focus on delivering excellent service to our members.
• Must live in a location that can leverage an existing high-speed internet service.
• Minimum upload speed 5 MB/s, preferred upload speed 25 MB/s.
• Minimum download speed 25 MB/s, preferred download speed 50 MB/s.
• Candidates must provide and meet all technical requirements prior to the first day of training.
• Candidates must live within driving distance of the office location and be able to regularly commute to and from the office location as needed.
• Hot spots are not authorized as internet option.
Position Details:
• Location: Downtown Tampa – GTE Headquarters
• Department Hours: Monday– Friday (8:00 am to 6:00 pm) // Saturday (9:00 am to 1:00 pm)
• Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
