DIRECTOR OF PASTORAL CARE Leadership Hours: M-F 8-5 Days - Full-time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: OH 2013-77 - 47026A
Job Summary Directs activities of the department designed to meet the religious and/or spiritual needs of patients, families, and the organization#s staff. # Job Responsibilities Develops, implements, and evaluates pastoral care services and programs that reflect the hospital#s mission, philosophy, and goals. Maintains relationships with patient care leaders to facilitate inter-professional coordination of care and services. Represents Pastoral Care in leadership management meetings, on institutional committees, and on inter-professional improvement teams. Directs all activities related to pastoral care staffing, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation. Provides for clinical pastoral training according to the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) standards. Provides, mentors, and manages the delivery of daily pastoral care services, including counseling, religious rites and sacraments, worship services, scheduling and maintenance of chapel facilities, and assistance with biomedical ethical decision-making. Develops and maintains department budget to achieve financial targets. Leads department initiatives related to quality, safety, and performance improvement. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and productivity analysis to guide department operations. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community clergy. Recruits and coordinates training, orientation, and scheduling of Pastoral Care Volunteers. Qualifications Master#s degree or higher in Divinity required upon hire OR Master#s degree or higher in Theology required upon hire OR Master#s degree or higher in Religious Studies required upon hire OR Master#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A minimum of 5 years# relevant experience required Chaplain - Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) board certified required upon hire OR Chaplain - American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) board certified required upon hire OR Chaplain - National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) board certified required upon hire OR Chaplain - National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) board certified required upon hire OR Chaplain - Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE/ACPEP) board certified required upon hire Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
