Full Job Description JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Production Manager will report to the Plant Manager.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Salary)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Commits to and implements all company safety policies down to the employee level. Ensures facility is in compliance with local, State, and Federal mandates on building codes, environmental regulations, machine OEM safety requirements, lock out/tag out, pedestrian travel, PPE use, confined space permits, slip and fall protection, safety observation cards, employee safety training, and all other OSHA rules.
2. Manages, coaches, and oversees the production team
3. Conducts performance evaluations on Production Supervisors.
4. Ensures product flows through plant in an organized and efficient manner from raw material procurement, converting, and hand off to Shipping.
5. Works to establish balance between increased productivity and reduced cost of production.
6. Communicates regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production.
7. Sets production goals with supervisors for each line.
8. Works to minimize all process downtime including mechanical, raw materials, and tooling.
9. Ensures general housekeeping is maintained throughout the shift.
10. Initiate’s maintenance work orders for repairs beyond crew level.
11. Reviews MRS daily reports for factory waste and downtime.
12. Reviews machine performance statistics on set ups and run speeds. Initiates plans to correct deficiencies.
13. Keeps facility in a high state of housekeeping and inspection ready state.
14. Participates in and leads production meetings with direct reports. Organizes and directs cost control ideas, continuous improvement initiatives, and other actions directed at improvements in productivity, waste reduction, cost avoidance, overtime, and quality assurance.
15. Instills best practices in the work force through good organization skills, feasibility studies, spaghetti diagrams, value stream mapping, 5-S lean manufacturing, Six Sigma defect reduction, and execution of SMED.
16. Executes various phases of employee discipline per the employee handbook, Personal Improvement Plans, and personnel evaluations.
17. Works closely with Design Engineering to conceive customer packaging solutions that meet process capability, are production friendly, waste prohibitive, and compatible with current capacity. Initiates re-routing or tooling modifications as necessary.
18. Works closely with Customer Service and Sales to meet customer commitments, on time delivery, product to specification, and address customer complaints using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
19. Ensures proper shift handoff occurs between supervisory personnel and line leaders.
20. Leads and interacts with all employees regardless of their departments. Coaches, teaches, shares, and builds harmonious relationships based on trust, respect, and team building.
21. Stays current on industry training, manufacturing new methods, equipment, and technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS

· Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience and/or training in a production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring devices.
· Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Well-developed written and verbal communications skills.
· Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization.
· Previous Production Management experience.
· Strong organizational skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
· Good analytical skills and independent decision-making.
· Computer Skills – Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

The access to the work environment is ground level.
Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, earplugs or earmuffs and safety shoes may be required to perform job tasks.
