Summary
The HVAC Mechanic repairs, services and installs heating and air conditioning systems in various establishments.
Essential Duties Job Functions
• HVAC Mechanic with strong analog and digital control experience required for the overseas location of Ascension Air Station
• Must be self-motivated and work independently and as a team
• Under general to limited supervision, performs skilled work installing, maintaining, adjusting, overhauling, and repairing refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment and systems
• Maintenance on air conditioning and ventilation systems to maintain air and humidity at a specific level
• Maintains accurate service and refrigerant records
• Repairs and replaces pumps and compressors
• Modifies and adjusts air conditioning and refrigeration's systems and units following established procedures
• Changes filters, cleans coils, cleans motors, changes v-belts, and packs pumps to keep equipment in proper working order
• Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment.
• May install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from 3 to 60 tons of cooling capacity, in large and small buildings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
• Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
• Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
• Dealing with a variety of people in a multicultural environment in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
• Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
• Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
• Having the ability to work well under pressure.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Mandatory
• High School diploma or equivalent
• EPA Certification is required
• Four or more years of experience in HVAC operation repair
• Experience working with HVAC equipment and functions including computer controls and industrial refrigeration equipment to include walk in coolers/freezers and ice machines.
• Ability to install, test, maintain and repair air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office
• Must have a valid US Driver's License
• Good communication skills
• Ability to lead and give direction
• Ability to interface with all levels of people.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Favorable National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI); or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level, as applicable to the position requirement.
• Ability to successfully pass any employment background check and/or drug testing required on the contract.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and annual physical as required for the position.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current Passport.
Preferred
• HVAC/R trade school desired
