Job Summary Manages the daily activities of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and epilepsy monitoring (EMU) units. # Job Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of current trends, research, and development in the assigned areas. Manages the growth of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and epilepsy monitoring (EMU) departments. Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and staffing levels. Trains, coaches and evaluates assigned staff on performance expectations. Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints. Coordinates patient care with other members of the healthcare team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Assists with equipment quality control testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and the Neurodiagnostic Society (ASET) requirements, including pursuing and maintaining applicable accreditations. Makes recommendations and assists with equipment selection, purchase, and installation when replacements are required. Serves as liaison between the electroencephalogram (EEG), epilepsy monitoring (EMU) departments and neurologists. Conducts and/or coordinates electroencephalogram (EEG) conference and education including annual competencies. Demonstrates knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to planning, analysis, and evaluation of program, policies, and operational needs. Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions, and implements recommendations in support of the overall goals. Accepts responsibility for the continuous review, planning, development and the general effectiveness of the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) program. Assures the professional content of the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) program is kept current and the goals and outcomes are achieved. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with staff and organizational leadership. Conducts meetings in an effective and efficient manner. # Organizational Responsibilities Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. # Licensure/Certification/Registration Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist with the American Board of Registration of Electrencephalographic Technologist (ABRET) required. Certified as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position. # Work Experience A minimum of 4 years# relevant experience required. # Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision.
