Department: Infusion Center Tampa
Reports to: Director of Physician Offices
Job Summary: Provides infusion services to patients in an outpatient setting.

Essential Functions of the Position:
• Performs administrative functions
• Ensures all policies and procedures are in place and followed
• Reviews all forms and consents for the department on a regular basis to make certain they are current and comprehensive
• Creates consents for newly offered treatments when necessary
• Prepares patients and supplies before treatments
• Obtains informed consents as indicated
• Instructs individual patients and family on follow-up care, toxicity and side effects of infusion therapy
• Performs assessment and triage of patient calls: evaluates symptoms, and determines essential care required
• Ensures verification of benefits has been obtained
• Determines how the drug should be supplied and ensures the patient’s specialty pharmacy has supplied the medications if appropriate
• Documents patient information in a concise, clear and thorough manner
• Clinical Skills
• Performs complex nursing procedures and prescribed medical treatments
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique and practice
• Performs intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injections to include administration of diagnostic agents and medications
• Perform venous, capillary procedures and access indwelling catheters for blood withdrawal
• Administer medication in a safe and knowledgeable manner following established clinic policies and within the scope of  licensure
• Validates infusion doses for accuracy, verification of  “5  Rights”
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge, skill and judgment of medications administered following clinic and manufacturer’s protocols for administration.
• Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner
• Informs physician of any changes to patient’s condition during the infusion process and documents appropriately.
• Completes end of treatment processes
• Composes written discharge instructions for each patient at the conclusion of their treatment
• Schedules an appointment for the patient’s next treatment
• Answers any questions the patient may have related to their treatment
• Evaluates the patient before allowing them to leave
• Makes follow up calls to check on patients as ordered by physician
• Manages and Maintains Medical Supplies, Equipment and Drug Inventory
• Order and maintain drug inventory and medical supplies
• Maintains medical equipment; ensures all equipment is calibrated, cleaned, sterilized and charged
• Empties red bags, replaces sharp containers, ensure all OSHA policies and procedures are followed
• Completes the Encounter Form indicating the correct procedure codes for billing
Additional Responsibilities:
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
• Earn required CEU’s to maintain licensure and stay current on new treatments and skills

Occupational Exposure:
• High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
Job Qualifications:
• Current Active Florida RN license
• IV Certification with working experience
• Current BLS certification
• Strong customer service orientation
• Basic computer proficiency
• Heightened sensitivity to patient’s physical and psychological needs
• Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health team
