BASIC FUNCTION:
The responsibility of this position is to perform data analysis to make recommendations and develop and manage action plans to support Gerdau’s Data & Analytics processes and practices.  The Data Analytics Analyst will often act as a lead to coordinate projects and improvements.  The Data Analytics Analyst will regularly work with minimal supervision from the Data & Analytics Manager on projects by developing and managing the action plans, analyzing research results, and presenting strategies and deploying them to help the organization meet its strategic goals.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Data Analytics Analyst will be responsible for analysis, recommendations, development and deployment of action plans and process improvements with little need of validation by the Data & Analytics Manager. The Data Analytics Analyst will be accountable for data stewardship and governance (automation and processes), Power BI (development and routine reporting), regression/statistical modeling and predictive capabilities (development and routine analysis) and work as lead coordinating projects.  The Data Analytics Analyst will be responsible for creating insights, collaboration, predictive analysis, machine learning, data scrapping and recommending specific actions to drive business objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Data Analyst serves as a gatekeeper for Gerdau organization's data so stakeholders can understand data and use it to make strategic business decisions.
The Data Analyst will perform these duties with minimal management validation:
• Designing and maintaining data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems.
• Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
• Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
• Demonstrating the significance of their work in the context of local, national, and global trends that impact both their organization and industry.
• Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data .
• Monitor the competitive positioning of Gerdau products.
• Collaborating with programmers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications.
• Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analysis, business, finance or a related area
• Five (5) years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, data & analytics or related analytical roles preferred
• Experience in a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, using standard databases and analytical software
• Analytically focused, and have proven experience developing action plans based on their own analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with other departments and customers
• Experience in planning and performing data analysis projects and processes from start to finish
• Proficient with Power BI, Phyton, statistical analysis and research methodologies, along with common programs (such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel), RPA technology (Robotic Process Automation), online survey tools and syndicated data sources
• Time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills are required
• Strong organizational skills, customer focus, work creatively and analytically to solve day-in and day-out problems
• Requires proven ability to establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with commercial and operations teams
• Prior knowledge and experience in manufacturing, steel or steel using industries preferred
The Data Analyst may be required to travel approximately two times per year to visit  mills, other Geredau business units, seminars, trainings and/or attend trade shows and trade association meetings.
