Job Description
Solicits and secures planned gifts such as wills, trusts, and annuities within an assigned geographic area; travels throughout an assigned territory to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with donors and their advisors; provides information, answers questions, and resolves problems regarding planned giving gifts; assists donors in estate planning and in determining the most appropriate planned giving gift; ensures compliance with the Territorial Planned Giving Manual; plans and prioritizes work to ensure goals and objectives are met. Must live in or be willing to relocate to the travel area required for the position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Knowledge of the general principles and practices of fund-raising, mathematics, accounting, and finance

• Ability to acquire and maintain a current working knowledge of the principles and practices of planned giving development to include wills, trusts, and annuities
• Ability to acquire and maintain a current working knowledge of the principles and practices of estate planning
• Ability to acquire and maintain a current working knowledge of local, state and federal laws governing planned giving and charitable taxation strategies
• Ability to apply and maintain compliance with Planned Giving Manual
• Ability to build professional relationships with senior adults and be comfortable meeting in their personal home environments
• Ability to understand the desires of donors and to determine the most appropriate planned giving gift for their needs using the principals of Conceptual Selling: Donor Centered Interactions
• Ability to solicit and successfully close planned giving agreements in compliance with policies as well as local, state and federal regulations governing the same
• Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse group of people and remain sensitive to their concerns
• Ability to maintain the highest degree of commitment to what is right for the client while acknowledging that the results may limit a gift
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of donors' personal and financial status within the strictures of policy
• Ability to supervise and participate in maintaining the security and accountability of donated funds and/or assets in established donor database
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing amongst a diverse group of people
• Ability to plan and prioritize work in a manner that ensures the achievement of prescribed activity and financial goals
• Ability to prepare records and reports
• Ability to work as a self-starter with immediate supervision
• Ability to maintain honesty, credibility, enthusiasm, and insight
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study
• Five years of related work experience performing fund-raising work for a charitable organization or similar work experience causing people to make measurable decisions and supervising projects, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Bon-a-fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ)
This position requires an active Christian faith in harmony with doctrine and practice.
Licenses/Certifications
• Valid State Drivers License
• CFRE or ACFRE desired

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as required on a frequent basis in order to perform responsibilities of the position

• Ability to work effectively from a home office with dedicated space set aside within the home for that purpose
• Ability to meet with donor prospects in their office or home where there may be physical discomforts and environment may not be handicap accessible
• Work requires extensive travel throughout the assigned territory where there may be physical discomforts/dangers associated with driving a vehicle, changes in the weather and on-site visitation with potential donors and overnight hotel stays on a weekly basis
• Must have access to high-speed internet provider in home office and while traveling
