Full Job Description Job Purpose: Processes incoming and outgoing shipments, material traceability processes, and performs material handling processes such as cycle counts and order/ part pulling.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming/outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices or other records
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and coordinates with the TRAK buyer to rectify damages and shortages
• Maintains the Supplier Database for all discrepant incoming shipments
• Creates the receiving record, attaches record to proper container and places container on the correct shelf in receiving inspection or stock receiving shelf
• Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
• Prepares shipping labels and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
• Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers
• Inserts items into containers
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet packaging specifications.
• Prepares packing slips and lists serial numbers or other identifying information of items sold.
• Examines and prepares documents for international shipments
• Receives sorts and distributes daily mail from the US Post Office
• Prepares and affixes postage for outgoing mail
• Processes defective products returned by customer by matching customer and Smiths paperwork, notifying Customer Service and delivering the parts to the proper Incoming Inspection area
• Processes classified hardware for both incoming and outgoing shipments requiring a security clearance
• Must be able to work frequent overtime as needed to meet business demands
• Perform material handling duties such as kitting and cycle counts
• Create order pull sheets
• Reconciles inventory adjustments
• Participates in continuous improvement activities
• Maintains Kanban supply bins

The Individual
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Good math skills required.
• Computer experience and proficiency in Word and Excel required.
• ERP system experience preferred
• Experience with inventory control systems preferred.
• Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift up 50lbs.
• Must be able to successfully pass forklift certification.
• Familiarity with export regulations and the requirements for shipping to non-U.S. destinations preferred.
Security: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident); must be eligible/able to obtain security clearance.
Education/Training: High School Diploma preferred.
Experience: 3-4 years in the related field preferred
