JOB SUMMARY
This position creates bi-lingual English and Arabic food ingredient labels using manufacturers’ specifications sheets and/or information printed on the product packaging. Update existing labels as manufacturers change ingredients or other information listed on the label. Document and educate fellow team members on label requirements by market. Conduct research and gather the required information to ensure labeling compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Translate English food ingredients and other required label information into Arabic through the use of manufacturer's specification sheets, manufacturer's websites, pictures of the product, and/or actual physical observation of the case and product for new products for a particular customer or market.
• Update existing labels as new information is received, whether from communication by the manufacturer of from the labeling quality assurance (QA) noticing a discrepancy and requiring label changes.
• Communicate daily with the labeling supervisors to ensure labels being applied that day are compliant.
• Request pictures, label artwork, specifications from manufacturers for label creation.
• Train the printers and QA's to follow country requirements.
• Conduct country research on labeling requirements and maintain a record of requirements by country.
• Coordinate with market managers, the labeling team, vendors, and customers to ensure that the customer's approved labels are properly saved in the labeling database and updated accordingly.
• Maintain a log of all label changes and send them to appropriate stakeholders weekly.
• Format labels into the appropriate design for the country and/or customer by using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and templates within the labeling software.
• Review shipment pull sheets for items to be shipped that do not have a label created.
• Translate Arabic information and/or documents into English as needed.
• Ensure that all labels meet the country requirements of their shipping destination.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• High school dipoloma or equivalent.
Experience
• Manufacturing or food industry experience preferred
Professional Skills
• Able to translate written English into an Arabic dialect that will be accepted by Arabic regulatory agencies.
• Occasionally translate customer provided Arabic text into English.
• Ability to communicate effectively via email communications, phone conversation, and in person.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Able to learn AS400 (SUS), Sysco’s warehouse management system (SWMS), and Labeling software program.
Work Environment
• Work in both ambient and freezer temperatures.
• Able to work flexible hours.
DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
Most important decisions made fully independently:
• Interpret English words into the correct Arabic dialect that will be accepted by Arabic governmental regulatory agencies.
• Resolve labeling verbiage conflicts using personal knowledge and/or professional judgment.
• Project prioritization.
Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (include the reviews/approvals required):
• Format and design of a label –Registration Manager.
• Can we ship a product with a revised label or not – Market Managers and Registration Manager.
