Responsibilities
The Area Manager function is a leadership position within our salesforce and reports to the Vice President - Sales Distribution. The Area Manager has a high level of visibility within the organization and within the client network . The Area Manager requires sociability, assertiveness, logistical problem solving, intensity and drive for continual innovation into our team.

• Communicate company goals & messages; provide training on new products/services/sales techniques; maintain individual management relationship with District personnel.
• Lead by Example: motivate District personnel to achieve in sales, customer service and management via example of stellar individual achievements in same areas of responsibility.
• Commitment to Customers, Service Delivery & Account Maintenance Relationship Building • Maintain regular visitation of new targets and key customers - anticipate their needs, promote the latest in product/service technologies, and aide them in reaching their goals for growth & profitability through our partnership.
• Actively participate in new account rollouts/installations ensuring product quality and service delivery standards are upheld.
• Take ownership of service delivery & account maintenance via regular customer contact.
• Follow up on all escalated calls to assist in problem resolution and successful outcome.
• Adopt a "No Matter What" attitude toward protection of the customer base.
• New Account Development, Growth of Existing Accounts & Managing Overall Profitability: • Working with Division and Regional leadership: develop & implement sales plans; protect profit margins via strategic price management, regular customer visitation, and controlling expenses to meet pre-determined profit contribution goals.
• Lead by example by meeting personal sales goals.
• Support growth, retention and success of National Accounts in conjunction with Division/District goals.
• Team sell with District, Branch & Territory Manages where applicable.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Marketing or a similar discipline.
• Minimum of 5-7 years sales management experience, preferably in the food & beverage /route distribution market with direct report supervision.
• Proven ability to recruit top talent and continually develop strong employees.
• Ability to work independently with an exceptional work ethic and lead teams by example.
• Ability to utilize multiple tools, to include an outgoing and success driven personality, to achieve a strong record of business growth through effective selling and account management.
• Ability to think strategically with a focus on the day to day execution of business as well as long range future planning.
• A desire and commitment to community and professional networking and involvement.
• Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include: • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
• Beyond basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
• Prior experience using hand held sales device tools and experience with SAP are highly preferable.
• Ability to travel, as required and periodically requiring overnight stay to attend meetings, training and other work related events as scheduled.
• Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
• Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position which are required to successfully perform each essential responsibility. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the core responsibilities. These physical demands may include, among other functions:
• The ability to safely climb up and down stairs or ramps at customer locations, and in and out of trucks.
• The ability to sit and walk for extended periods of time.
• The ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment.
• The ability to push or pull up to 250lbs with the use of hand truck, and lift equipment or product up to 55lbs.
• The ability carry product up to 40lbs.
