Full Job Description Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepares and/or reviews monthly financial statements, including research and variance analysis.
• Performs month end general ledger research and variance analysis.
• Reviews and approves funding of general or special checking accounts and Federal funds on a daily basis by wire and transfers.
• Prepares and/or reviews regulatory reports, including FR2900 and 5300 Call Report
• Assists in preparation or review of all internal and external reports.
• Assists in preparation of annual budget.
• Assists in maintenance of General Ledger system.
• Prepares analyses as needed by gathering pertinent data and formalizing results using Excel spreadsheets.
• Coordinates schedules, activities, and other information required for external and internal auditors and NCUA examiners.
• Reviews and develops related accounting policies and procedures, recommending changes to improve efficiency or strengthen controls.
• Supports the department's supervisor and/or manager. This can include, but is not limited to, assisting in departmental training of staff and in answering staff questions.
• Maintains knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise. Attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and be otherwise beneficial to the Credit Union. Completes annual BSA/AML Compliance Training and understands employee’s role in maintaining an effective BSA/AML compliance program, and completes FACT Act Red Flag training.
Minimum Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in the field of Accounting preferably with a financial institution
• Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized. Able to analyze and resolve difficult problems and situations.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Credit Union products, services, policies, and procedures pertinent to the job.
• Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.
• Good knowledge and understanding of all Credit Union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators. Able to influence others through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
• Works independently with general supervision.
Education Preferred
• Bachelor of Science or better in Accounting
