ROLE SUMMARY
Provides financial support for a portfolio of high to medium priority early and late stage assets spanning the categories within WRDM and GPD, including 3rd party co-development medicines.  High and medium priority assets include those that are included in 25 by 2025 goals, those that involve co-development arrangements, medicines with multiple indications, medicines with medium to large active $ budgets, those that include discussions with external partners or are in business development discussions, and others. Overall budget managed is ~$200-250M.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• May provide strategic financial support for Research Unit, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and/or Clinical Development operating expenses
• Routinely interacts with R&D Category Finance Leads, RU Operations Leads (ELT-2), GPD and WRDM Medicine Team and Project Team Leaders  (ELT-2 and 3), and 3rd Party Finance organizations as well as supports the clinical and Pharm Sci teams in managing medicine life of program budgets and advises on financial impacts of operational decisions (hereinafter referred to as Clients/Partners)
• Work closely with the medicine and project teams to provide business counsel, financial leadership and identify / deliver cost efficiencies to optimize costs of new programs / studies and ensure budget compliance
• Collaborate closely with the Clients/Partners to manage the financials of medicines in support of the overall category portfolio budget, to drive investment decisions
• Synthesize information from various sources across the R&D organizations to prepare multi-year budgets and forecasts for medicines; proactively identifies creative solutions through focused financial and operational analyses to provide business guidance and drives investment decisions within Clients/Partners;  provides sound financial and business guidance to ensure transparency in support of high priority medicine portfolio investment decision making at PSI and within the Research Units
• Demonstrate strong financial and analytical skills, an ability to work proactively, negotiate, influence, relate well to others, and think strategically, all which will further enable the candidate to advise, support and problem solve with senior leaders is required
• Serve as key business partner and valued member of the Client/Partner Project Teams. Prepare business results, financial projections and analyses; anticipated operational changes and proactively communicates financial impact; synthesizing information, identifies trends, opportunities and recommendations for action to the Client/Partner
• Enable effective decision making
• Provides critical financial support for co-development medicines for which he/she is the “Face of Pfizer” from a finance perspective by participating in Joint Finance Committees, collaborating both internally and externally with the 3rd party company to manage the collaboration financials to ensure adherence to the contract
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes with Client/Partners to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of the month end close and reporting, forecasts, and annual operating plan
• Collaborate with Client/Partner to identify creative solutions to ensure management of budget within authorized target, enables effective decision making and drive efficiency savings. Provide financial analysis in support of Operating Plan. Lead ad hoc analyses related to medicine and/or portfolio investments.
• Ensure compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance policies
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-7+ years of finance experience
• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA and/or CPA/ACA strongly preferred
• Experience should include budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for a global organization
• Knowledge of accounting and prior experience in monthly financial close activities
• Ability to communicate financial concepts to business leaders
• Knowledge of SAP and fluency in Microsoft Office tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience providing financial support for clinical studies and operating budgets
• Prior Pfizer experience
