Job Description The Senior Payroll Specialist produces payments for temporary clinicians and physicians by processing appropriate pay factors according to company policies as well as local, state and federal guidelines, as well as reconciling HR and ERP systems to maintain accurate and on time pay and payroll records.  The Sr. Payroll Specialist leverages their industry and job knowledge to address the most complex client accounts and situations and model best practices for others in the department.
Job Tasks • Address escalated customer issues autonomously of department leadership by making independent decisions in order to balance department and customer needs.
• Apply critical thinking, problem-solving and technical expertise by investigating details and leveraging experience.
• Address the most complex situations in terms of payroll activities and processes.
• Communicate deadline completion to Super Users during the payroll production days.
• Analyze and interpret client metrics to management in order to identify trends
• Liaison and partner with Production Systems Analyst as backup on production schedule to ensure business efficiency and strengthen cooperation among departments.
• Maintain various Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls by reconciling data and processes with company and federal guidelines.
• Review and audit payroll processes and activities on a monthly and quarterly basis in order to prevent inaccurate and incomplete payments.
• Observe on-the-job performance and approach of newer team members in real time in order to identify and communicate skill and knowledge learning opportunities to leadership.
• Coach team members in real-time to utilize best practices and strategies in order to maximize team productivity and performance.
• Identify and interpret metrics (e.g., service level, scorecard results, etc.) to monitor and improve team performance.
• Prepare for compliance audits by generating reports, centralizing records and compiling documentation in order to streamline audit-oriented activities (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley, Joint Commission).
• Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) by interfacing with business partners and IT analysts, and creating relevant test cases, to conduct rigorous analysis of realistic scenarios in order to ensure timely and effective system releases.
Education, Certifications & Experience Minimum Education/Certifications:
• High School Diploma or GED certificate required
Preferred Education/Certifications:
• College Degree
Minimum Experience:
• 2 to 5 years of prior payroll experience including People Soft, Great Plains (or other ERP system)
