Full Job Description Overview:
Provides professional billing support following established standards and practices. Refers matters outside their scope of duties to the Supervisor or Unit Administrator.
Responsibilities:
Verify patient benefits (via phone and internet).
Billing for various visit types/procedures using appropriate CPT/ICD coding.
Document/update information in patient’s electronic medical record.
Contact patient to obtain insurance information, if necessary.
Perform charge entry/posting, if needed.
Represents clinic in a professional manner. Treats all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Attends required meetings and participates in team activities and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1-3 years medical billing experience in medical office environment.
Working knowledge of billing/insurance processes and guidelines
Ability to multi-task in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to communicate with coworkers, providers and patients in an effective manner.
Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years medical billing experience in medical office environment.
OB/GYN experience a plus.
eCW electronic medical record experience a plus
