You Will Be Responsible For:
• Develops, produces, and delivers training for CDI on an ongoing basis. This includes monthly New Hire CDI training, CDI Preceptor Program, and on an as needed basis for current employees in the CDI Department.
• Audits new CDI members during their 90 day probationary period. Presents written and verbal updates to the CDI Manager/team leads and the CDI Director as appropriate. Provides additional education based on results of audit and provides input for the 90 Day Evaluation.
• Audits CDS concurrent cases to assist with missed documentation opportunities
• Reviews and revises CDI Policies and Job Descriptions annually, or as needed.
• Identifies resources in the community and coordinates education opportunities for CDI staff including webinars and continuing education.
• Acts as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Clinical Documentation for Revenue Cycle or Quality related projects.
• Acts as a liaison between CDI leadership and other interdisciplinary team at all applicable levels of leadership, and external partners. Communicates appropriately and effectively with all involved parties.
• Participates in educational strategies and development of training materials for system conversions.
• Presents educational material to target groups and conducts education in necessary forum, i.e. video conference, webinar, and on-site training.
• Provides train-the-trainer, super-user and end-user training on Cerner and Iodine solutions providing follow-up on site and remote support for all participating facilities.
• Assist in auditing, tracking and reporting of metrics that measure Clinical Documentation Integrity compliance activities and provides corporate director with process improvement recommendations.
• Actively participates in system updates and testing for all Cerner and Iodine solution software prior to and during system conversion.
• Participate in internal and external meetings to coordinate training and implementation of Cerner and Iodine Solutions software.
• Serves as a resource for designated facilities when problems are reported from the facilities and gives guidance on solutions to the Clinical Documentation Integrity teams and corporate team members.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
• Excellent communication techniques in oral and written form
• Knowledge of computers including advanced skill in Windows and Outlook
• Comfortable in a complex and changing healthcare environment
• Knowledge of medical record investigative review
• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding compliance and regulations
• Ability to instruct educational training to varied groups of adult learners in various settings
• Expertise in documentation strategies for improving the integrity of the medical record
• Ability to navigate and utilize other related software and databases for educating new system end-users
• Demonstrates strong analytical, problem solves skills and the ability to analyze complex data
• Current knowledge of Clinical Documentation Integrity key accountabilities and goals for best practice
• Proficiency in use of spreadsheets and report software
• Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage others
• Advocate with strong change management skills
• Proficiency with CDI-type application such as Iodine
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Knowledge of hospital reimbursement models and trends and their impact to the AHS health system
• Strong analytical and problem solves skills
• Proficiency with Iodine software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Experience in acute care facility with clinical practice – five (5) year minimum
• Experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist – two-year minimum
• Experience as a CDI preceptor or staff educator – one year
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
•
• Experience working in Cerner Power chart of at least 2 years
• Experience utilizing spreadsheets to gather, analyze and report data
• Experience working in Iodine CDI platform
• Prosci Change Management practitioner certification
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
• Current valid State of Florida License as a Registered Nurse
• Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist, CCDS or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner, CDIP
