FLEET MANAGER
Job Summary:
Directs and coordinates company activities of the fleet program by performing the following duties personally or through the regional, branch and warehouse managers. Prepares recommendations designed to increase efficiency and revenues and lower costs for management evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee fleet maintenance including:
• Secure pricing and assist in purchasing of vehicle and equipment; communicate addition of new vehicles for insurance purposes
• Repairs: Identify preferred repair shops for each branch, negotiate pricing for repairs as needed, approve vehicle repairs.
• Dispose of unneeded used equipment. Ensure branches are using Asset disposition form and communication dispose to accounting .
Travel to branches to review and inspect warehouse conditions, training of new employees, inspect fleet. A written summary of the visit including recommendations.
Work in conjunction with Safety Director to ensure policies and procedures are in place for safe operations of the business and the employees, especially as it relates to the GES fleet. Promote safety proactively to prevent accidents and injuries. Work with the Human Resource Department as needed in response to accidents and injuries. Participate in investigation, mediation and settlements as needed.
Training new and existing managers in safe operations of the branch, including but not limited to fleet, DOT compliance, GPS navigation as a business tool, accidents, and injuries.
Ensure proper procedures are in place to comply with DOT regulations.
Train branches accordingly.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports to the President. Works with Human Resource Department as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Well organized person with strong administrative and good interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task the workload. Overnight travel required up to 50% of the time.
Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S.

EDUCATION:
1. Education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade, prefer bachelors degree.
2. A minimum of three (3) years in management of Fleet for a company with multiple locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Mature elements of English language usage, spelling, and arithmetic.
• Ability to perform routine clerical and office functions.
• Ability to utilize computers including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
• Knowledge of office methods, practices, and procedures, and ability to make mathematical calculations.
• Ability to understand; carry out, oral and written directions.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions.
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships as part of a team effort with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees and customers.
• Must have knowledge of maintenance programs for trucks (including boom trucks, cranes, conveyor belts), safety programs (including filing of accident and injury reports).
• Physical requirements - As required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, including but not limited to:
• Walking, standing, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; to talk and hear. The individual is frequently required to sit and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
