This position is responsible for providing audit services to the integrated team to ensure that various business units adhere to the client guidelines and legal requirements. Responsibilities also include familiarizing with the end-to-end business process flow to be able to carry out audits in an objective manner to either detect anomalies in data or respond to client requests. Responsible for collaborating with all stakeholders to understand the audit requirements and ensure that they are carried out correctly within the specified time frame, and accurately reported to the management and/or client.
A professional at this position level within Optum has the following responsibilities: Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems. Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals. Uses considerable judgment to determine solution and seeks guidance on complex problems. Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor. May interact with peers and/or management levels at a client and/or within Optum. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with client, management and regulatory/government and contracted third-party agencies (HHS/HRSA, OIG, GAO, etc.) to determine audit requirements, scope, timelines and logistics
• Work collaboratively with the technical teams and stakeholders to plan and perform audits such as operational, financial and compliance audits
• Monitor audit progress and resolve potential findings as appropriate
• Review audit findings, develop action plans and monitor corrective actions
• Participate in audit meetings and coordinate internal and external audit activities
• Recommend improvements to audit policies and procedures to achieve better quality and/or efficiency while adhering to regulatory requirements
• Work with management, legal and compliance teams to ensure data being accessed and reported confirms to regulatory requirements
• Identify areas of improvements and concerns to management and/or client
• Develop clear and complete reports of audit procedures and findings
• Develop audit presentations to management as needed
• Manage and motivate staff and create a collaborative space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns
• Review and recommend improvements to business procedures and internal controls
• Develop risk models to assess and mitigate potential risks
• Maintain audit documentation according to established standards
• Organize audit trainings for team for skill development
• Develop standard tools and procedures to improve audit efficiency

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 4+ years of experience in IT audits (includes operational, financial and compliance audits)
• Must be available to travel up to 25% of the time
• Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
• If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in business administration, health sciences, computer science degree preferred
• CPA, CIA or CISA certified
• Experience working with the Health and Human Services (HHS)
• Experience working with Healthcare claims processing
• Experience with healthcare policy, enrollment and coordination of benefits
• Experience working in CMMI Level 3 (or higher) environments
Soft Skills:
• Confident and proactive self-starter, skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, coming up with plans, and taking the lead in making plans reality
• Demonstrate a high degree of adaptability, comfortable in establishing new directions, managing rapid change, and trying different approaches to deal with uncharted territories
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with colleagues, managers, external stakeholders and client
• Comfortable and experienced operating in an outcome oriented environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be a team player, and be well organized and efficient with excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent analytical skills, the ability to integrate information from multiple sources to execute effectively and efficiently in a dynamic environment
• Ability to maneuver through large data-sources to identify, analyze and report critical data
• Effectively demonstrate a working knowledge of business operations, decision and intelligence systems concepts, and database structures

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000.
