SECURITY TRAINING OFFICER Service & Skilled Trades Hours: Mon-Fri 7-3pm Day Shift - Full Time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: NE N21 - 18.7000 - 23.5000
Security Training Officer # Shift/Schedule May Vary Position Highlights: This position is responsible for all training of current and new Security Officer Staff to include training of Center team members on safety, security and/or emergency preparedness related matters as needed. Directly responsible for making every professional attempt to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff and their property, as well as corporate assets. A high degree of visibility and vigilance with emphasis on crime deterrence and prevention coupled with guest relations-oriented attitude. Work is generally office based with the exception of training delivery, which can take place on or off the premises and at various locations and to various staff members. # This position provides ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency, effectiveness and functions. Coordinates efforts with employees and management to ensure consistent delivery of safety and security services. This position is responsible for compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This position assists in the development, implementation and enforcement of Policy and Procedures as they relate to the Safety and Security Department and Environment of Care (EC) Safety and Security. This position reports to the Manager of Safety and Security and has accountability to the Director of EOC/EM. Oversees employee training and assists in providing staff development opportunities and in-service orientation training for employees Works with Education Department in conveying Environment of Care (EC) expectations and compliance techniques to staff. # The Ideal Candidate Proven experience in a training or teaching role. Working knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools. Proven ability to complete the full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate). Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods and techniques. MS Office proficiency. Advanced organizational skills with ability to handle multiple assignments. Strong communication skills. FDLE Instructor Certification (current or previous 5 years) FDLE Defensive Tactics Instructor (current or previous 5 years) # Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement training programs Provides training for Center departments based on the needs of the organization and regulatory requirements for security, safety and emergency management standards. Provides verbal De-escalation training and physical intervention skills training to security officers and Center team members. Assists in selection of appropriate training methods or activities (i.e. simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes and e-learning.) Assists in designing and conducting classroom training, drills, exercises, and simulations. Conducts safety, security and emergency preparedness drills and manages security equipment checks Provides training related to panic/duress alarm and conducts drills and equipment tests. Conducts regular #McKinley Blood Run# exercises along with USF Police Department and Center staff. Conducts #Code Silver# response drills with Center staff. # Serves as #Training Officer# for new security personnel. Assists with scheduling of #On-Boarding# training for new security officers. Assists in completing #On-Boarding# training checklist for new security officers. Conducts job-specific individualized training for new security officers # Assists in developing and revising department policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable and keep current with changing regulatory standards. Reviews policies and procedures and recommends revisions as needed. # Assume security officer responsibilities in the event of emergencies or when the need exists for additional staffing Performs routine security officer functions. Responds to emergency calls for service, as needed. Conducts preliminary security investigations, when necessary. # Instructs the new employee orientation classes Perform individual department training session. # Credentials and Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Minimum 7 years Law Enforcement experience and/or Hospital Security experience. **Military experience will be considered #in lieu of# law enforcement or hospital/healthcare security years# experience and/or any combination of the three types of experience. In lieu of a valid certification as an Instructor in De-Escalation and/or Workplace Violence, a valid equivalent Military Instructor certification is required or two (2) years experience as a certified law enforcement instructor. Minimum of three (3) years working in training role is required (may be inclusive of the overall experience). # Teaching/Training certificate: Crisis Intervention Trainer certificate (must obtain within 6 months of hire). Valid Driver#s license (Must obtain Florida Driver#s license within 6 months of hire) #Preferred: Associate degree Preferred (8) years security or safety experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
