BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Tampa FL
• Inpatient/Outpatient
• Adults/Children's Program
SUMMARY:
Provides direct care to patients with a behavioral health illness which includes observing and monitoring patient behavior; assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADL); assisting other staff to ensure patients participate in prescribed treatment and activities, leading activity groups and community meetings, admitting and orienting patients to the unit and assuring all unit tasks are completed properly. Work is performed under the close supervision of the unit nurses.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Monitor patients according to program policies and procedures
• Assist patients with ADL’s according to the therapeutic environment.
• Maintain safety and security of the unit including patients, staff and visitors
• Accurate and timely completion of required patient documentation
• Managing and organizing the continuous workflow of the unit and workspace including the cleanliness of the environment.
• Provide appropriate nutrition based on patients’ dietary needs as directed by the dietitian.
• Other duties as assigned or needed as per program requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Secure facility that provides inpatient/outpatient treatment program for those experiencing a mental health emergency needing 24-hour care in a safe supportive environment.
• Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone.
• May be required to stand for an extended period and/or for entire work shift
• Maintains confidentiality and remains calm under stressful situations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in the mental health field or health care setting is preferred. BHT certification is preferred.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with patients, co-workers and visitors.
• Must have leadership skills. Must have a reliable source of transportation, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance (if driving on the job).
