Job Summary Influences professional role competence and professional growth of team members in a variety of settings. Supports lifelong learners in an interprofessional environment that facilitates continuous development and learning for the healthcare team. # Job Responsibilities Develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs and utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals. Collaborates with interprofessional teams, leaders, stakeholders, and others to facilitate nursing practices and positive outcomes for consumers. Coordinates initial training for orientation, ongoing certification, and competency training and evaluation for team members. Facilitates practice transitions for new graduate nurses. Administers the learning management program by determining appropriate assignments, reporting on compliance, and maintaining data. Develops and administers an annual learning needs assessment. Employs a formalized process to develop data collection and analysis methods to determine the educational needs of individuals/groups. Formulates a strategic approach to education planning that is multidisciplinary in scope. Schedules education events based on business needs and identified performance gaps. Independently develops and designs staff educational materials and programs to achieve expected outcomes. Employs strategies to facilitate positive learning and practice environment utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to both engage and motivate the learner. Develops or deploys appropriate data-gathering tools to determine learning needs. Selects valid sources of information (e.g., QI data, formal needs assessment, business needs, performance evaluations, formal documented requests, etc.) to determine education gaps between current and desired future states. Maintains depth and breadth of clinical knowledge in area of practice. Evaluates his/her own knowledge in relation to professional practice standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations. Designs and ensures a comprehensive evaluation of each education activity and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes. Assists in the preparation for review by regulatory agencies. Educates and assists department leaders to maintain appropriate policies and procedures to fulfill requirements and regulations. Adheres to performance standards and professional requirements as outlined in the Nursing Professional Development: Scope # Standards of Practice. Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Qualifications Bachelor#s degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire; Master#s degree in Nursing preferred A minimum of 2 years# relevant experience required RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required upon hire AND Trauma - Certification in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) required upon hire AND BLS instructor - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Instructor required within 120 days of employment in this position AND ACLS Instructor - Certified as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Instructor required within 180 days of employment in this position AND PALS instructor - Certified as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor required within 180 days of employment in this position AND Trauma instructor - Certified as a Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) Instructor required within 180 days of employment in this position Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
