What you’ll be doing...
VCP Far Edge is responsible for the Wind River (Kubernetes-based infrastructure) based hardware and software platform designed to support the deployment of containerized applications into regional VZW sites. You will support the engineering, operations, and maintenance of the VCP Far Edge platform deployed in 52 regional locations and thousands of macro sites.
• Responsible for deploying, upgrading, and supporting software and firmware.
• Look for and exploit operational and management automation opportunities while performing as a subject matter expert for the technology.
• Point of escalation for the operations of the system.
• Constant assessment of the deployment process as well implementing new procedures to streamline the process.
• Monitor the operational status of equipment and take corrective actions where needed and engage with vendors, CNF owners, and network personnel to resolve issues.
• Monitor platform efficiencies for maintaining accurate and up-to-date performance metrics, logging, and alarming and focusing on operational discipline and security best practices.
• Maintenance window activities and on-call duties.
• Maintain processes, tools, and documentation in support related to working environments
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline or four or more years of work experience.
• Threeor more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Ability to use technical and analytical skills to troubleshoot end-to-end and customer interfacing platforms systems.
• Three or more years of telecommunications and Information Systems experience.
• Kubernetes certifications.
• Experience with Linux-based platforms.
• Strong Knowledge of IP network services and protocols.
• Knowledge of computing hardware (HPE and ZT).
• Experience in reading and writing Shell, Python, or other variations of scripting.
• Knowledge with configuration management and orchestration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt).
• Knowledgeable in highly available geo-redundant solutions.
• Experience in utilizing monitoring tools (Netscout, Sev One, etc.).
• Experience with network tools and packet capture.
• Knowledge of Common Network Services (DNS, LDAP, NFS, SSH).
• Experience with Network Routing and Security.
• Experience with Firewalls and Load Balancers.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs.
