Summary & Job Scope:
This position is responsible for the support of our month-end close process as well as additional accounting processes that support all business units within the organization.
Essential Duties:

Asist in month-end close with the preparation of journal entries, accrual entries, and accounting schedules in support of adjustments

Prepare monthly reconciliations for general ledger balance sheet accounts to include but not limited to: Accrued Payroll & Withholdings, Clearing Accounts, Prepaid Expenses, etc.

Assist with the posting and review of various items as it relates to our intercompany transactions (primarily during ME Close) to include reconciliation and tying out with various companies within our Division

Investigate and work to resolve unusual items and discrepancies in general ledger and sub-ledger accounts

Perform P&L Flux Analyses as well as investigate and explain unusual M-T-M variances

Act as support for our Ready-Mix line of business by performing analytics, research, or other tasks as requested

Prepare data entry and account schedules that support the semi-annual IFRS package submissions

Prepare monthly/annual sales tax returns for the states of Florida & California

Responsible for review and research for any FL Dept of Revenue/CA Dept of Revenue notices, and coordinate with management regarding a resolution

Maintain the property tax accrual schedule for the company’s various plant and office locations

Responsible for review and research of various PPT/RE notices received being sure to follow up with local authorities and coordinating with management regarding a resolution

Assist with the compilation of documentation and requests for both internal and external audits

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies regarding standard and common procedures to ensure SOX compliance

Work with the SOX Compliance Coordinator to assist in the preparation of EUC documents to include testing EUC Files and maintaining the EUC PCW

Assist the SOX Compliance Coordinator with annual SOX document updates

Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information

Participate in various special projects as required to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Associate’s Degree and 10+ years’ work experience
Qualifications:

5+ years’ General Ledger Accounting Experience

Experience with large ERP systems is a plus

Ability to work in a fast paced constantly changing environment

Possess complex problem-solving skills with a research-focused, analytical mindset

Open and adaptable to change and willing to learn new skills

Positive, upbeat, friendly attitude and mindset

Possess excellent organizational skills, aptitude to focus on tasks until complete, and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines

Capacity to follow up on pending issues

Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail

Knowledge and ability to place a high emphasis on controls surrounding financial reporting as it pertains to GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
