You Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related area of study.
• Experience with leading a team of direct reports and influencing change to develop high performing teams. A mentor and trainer of the procurement process.
• Minimum of 10 years of related purchasing experience managing a wide variety of major purchasing projects/initiatives including CAPEX and/or Industrial Services procurement.
• Experience with vendor management, value analysis, and contemporary procurement processes, combined with negotiation terms of sale, inventory control procedures, pricing methods.
• A general understanding of accounting practices and related manufacturing costs/supply sources required.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports
• Self-directed; capable of developing and executing departmental strategies while performing tactical procurement activities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Project planning knowledge and experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software.
• Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills with the ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.
Your Purpose:
You will report to the Director of Procurement based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Tampa, FL. You will interact with corporate peers from other countries to manage the Global Procurement process and utilize the local/central team to manage National Purchasing.  You will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to customer groups and stakeholders such as local Purchasing Managers and Mill Buyers in order to ensure that material and service requirements are met while minimizing total short and long-term costs. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Procurement & Logistics regulations, processes, and policies are updated, communicated, adhered to, and enforced.
Your Work:
• Procurement of all direct materials, indirect materials, or capital equipment.
• Provides technical expertise in procurement-related areas to local purchasing teams and leadership.
• Assesses gaps in processes and recommends companywide improvements and implements process improvement initiatives.
• Continuously audit existing practices for compliance and efficiency and develop new strategies for continuous improvement. Enforce compliance of personnel with administrative policies and procedures.
• Analyze spending habits and supplier capabilities within the assigned area, and work with management and site personnel to develop standards and specific criteria for purchasing activities.
• Review existing purchasing practices, make recommendations, and implement purchasing programs to improve efficiencies and cut down costs.
• Educate and trains local Procurement leaders to empower them and ensures local Procurement resources have the knowledge needed to support Procurement & Logistics processes and needs.
• Manage and coordinate purchasing activities and processes within assigned areas for Gerdau.
• Negotiate company-wide vendor contracts and terms of sale for purchased goods and services to help reduce redundancies, improve pricing for the organization, and ensure the best vendors are selected to serve the company’s needs.
• Act as liaison between Gerdau and vendors to resolve any problems as they may arise.
• Work with management and local Procurement leaders to lead analysis and vendor selections, including making changes as needed.
• Ensure the company’s material and service requirements are met at the lowest possible cost.
