You Will Be Responsible For:
• Perform diagnostic testing of patients and report findings to pulmonologist
• Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach appropriate COPD disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment. Explain treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation and allay fears.
• Facilitate the COPD Patient Support Group via monthly meetings.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes.
• Direct patients needing help to appropriate resources.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Documenting/Recording Information -- Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates -- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

What You Will Need:
• Associates Degree or Certificate in Respiratory Therapy from a school accredited by COARC or appropriate body.
• Minimum of 5 years functioning as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from NBRC
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC
• Florida License with prefix “TT”
• BLS
• ACLS
• Knowledge of diseases of the lung
• Experience with CERNER EMR
Job Summary:
The COPD Coordinator is the person in the Respiratory Department responsible for educating patients and families about COPD.  The intent of this education is to decrease the number of COPD patients that get readmitted within 30 days, increase the patient and family member’s awareness of how to manage the disease, and coordinate with other departments and outside agencies to assist with the successful discharge of COPD patients.
