JOB TITLE: HOME SCHOOL COORDINATOR
JOB GOAL : To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation.
REPORTS TO: Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or other related fields required, in conjunction with qualifying certification i.e. school social worker, school counselor, etc.
• Training in programs for juvenile delinquency, drug and alcohol issues, and/or other at-risk programs
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish rapport with less than successful student
• Experience in Interagency Collaboration
• Experience/training in behavior management strategies
• Experience conducting case management activities and working with at-risk youth
• Strong Communication skills
• Knowledge of agencies in the community
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Consult with administrators and teachers regarding student needs
• Provide individual counseling services to students
• Establish working relationship with students at-risk for school failure and/or behavior difficulties
• Provide regular communication with and monitoring of students experiencing difficulty in school
• Act as liaison between students and their classroom teachers; monitor student academic progress and assist students in meeting classroom expectations
• Assist administrators with development and implementation of school-based intervention plans
• Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students
• Conduct home visits as necessary and/or requested by principals; act as liaison between school and home for students experiencing performance difficulties
• Provide informal supervision of hallways and cafeteria on the secondary campus, identifying and monitoring potential trouble spots
• Monitors student attendance and works collaboratively with teachers, students, families, and district staff to ensure compliance with attendance laws.
• Participate in conferences related to students with whom he/she is working
• Provide individual informal discussion with students assigned to in-school suspension
• Meet with students returning from out-of-school suspension to provide assistance in their return and work completion
• Implement support groups for students and parents on relevant issues
• Conduct case management activities with individual students and outside agencies
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others
• Provides for his/her own professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Represents the school in the community effectively and in a positive manner
• Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours
• Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan
• Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel
• Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations
• Performs all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Both Indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor exposure.  Typical office/classroom environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  Require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgement.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Certified Evaluation Plan.  The evaluation will be conducted by the Principal
