Two years’ experience in masonry, rough and finish carpentry, painting, and sheet metal is required.
• Operates power truck, manlift, other mobile equipment and cranes in performance of job and may perform maintenance utility duties in support of their own activity.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, charts and sketches, and work orders.
• Plans work details, determines material and tool requirements.
• Makes inspections, repairs and installations related to masonry carpentry or painting.
• Interprets parts and assembly drawings. Makes sketches showing construction details for fabrication or remodeling work. Plans sequence of operations and hob methods. Makes calculations essential in estimating material requirement and for laying out and developing curve, angular, plane or irregular shapes. Selects materials and tools most suitable for the job.
• Sets up and operates woodworking and masonry tools as required to cut, finish and form material for the job. Uses a variety of hand tools to form, fabricate, finish erect, dismantle, repair and refinish structures and mill and office equipment. Performs a wide variety of carpentry and masonry work such as interior finishing, wooden doors, partitions, windows, buildings, laying brick, pouring concrete, insulating furnaces, scaffolds concrete forms. Locates and installs prefabricated wood and metal parts. Will dismantle and/or install all roofing materials to a wooden support with the exception of a built-up paper and tar application, not to exclude using a cold tar or roofing mastic for finishing around a pipe opening as an incidental part of the application. Erects scaffolds and safety barriers and makes provisions for handling materials needed for the job. Works in shop and field.
• Flue wall cleaning and demolition.
• Prepares surface to be painted by scraping, brushing and cleaning with solvent.
• Mixes paint, concrete and other bonding material necessary for specified jobs.
• Cuts glass and replaces same with wood stop or putty.
