JOB TITLE:  STUDENT AND FAMILY ADVOCATE/RECRUITER
REPORTS TO : Principal/Director/Coordinator
Job Description :
Under the direction of the building Principal/Director/Coordinator to create, provide, and coordinate services and activities with children, families, and communities that foster overall well-being and promote a positive learning environment. Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of the academic program and student enrollment.
REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, preferred.
• Has met the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky State law and other requirements as specified in district personnel policy.
• Must be capable of working with students including those with disabilities.
• Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Computer skills using email, etc.
• Basic knowledge of specific subject matter to which assigned.
• Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
• Federal, State, and Local regulations in services to children and families.
• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Board policy and according to federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reports to work promptly and on a regular basis throughout the school year.
• Assist with student enrollment and track waiting list throughout the year.
• Responsible for recruitment, enrollment, eligibility, and attendance throughout the year, as directed by the Principal/Director/Coordinator.
• Develop community and school relationships which lead to increased enrollment, partnerships, and educational success.
• Foster trusting relationships with family members to increase classroom and monthly activity participation.
• Promote diversity and inclusion through consistent communication with families and students of diverse backgrounds.
• Create and maintain up-to-date files on each child, as directed by the Principal/Director/Coordinator.
• Provide parents with community resources, training, and activities related to parent/child engagement and referrals.
• Completed documentation as required such as family assessments.
• Complete training and professional development, along with conducting training for staff under the supervision of the Principal/Director/Coordinator.
• Participate as a member of an instructional team, as needed.
• Monitor and report behavior of students to teachers according to approved procedures.
• Perform routine clerical duties; operate copy machines and maintain records.
• Assist in overseeing students while in activities; provide for supplies as necessary.
• Assists students in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory; assisting students in getting on and off the bus.
• Assists children with self-care activities as needed, i.e., feeding and toileting (diapering when necessary).
• Assists students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
• Confer, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
• Assure the health and safety of students by following health practices and regulations.
• Direct group activities of students as assigned; assist in monitoring lunchroom and playground activities as assigned.
• Assist in emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
• Administer health services to students as necessary, including, but not limited to, the administration of medication; the operation, maintenance, or health care through the use of medical equipment; or the administration of clinical procedures.
• Learn child guidance principles and practices.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality of records and  information concerning students and classroom activities; refers all questions to Teacher, Principal/Director/Coordinator, or other administrative designee.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor, environmentally controlled.  Classroom environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  May require working with or near the public, parents, and with children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgement.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Certified Evaluation Plan.  The evaluation will be conducted by the supervising teacher.
