Overview of the Senior System Administrator
The Sr. System Administrator will be responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of complex enterprise systems. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning, and makes recommendations for improvement. Develops integrated solutions to solve highly complex technical and business issues. Assists in infrastructure planning and system architecture design and engineering. Performs problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards. Performs work that is highly complex and varied in nature. Requires senior level experience of technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Provides leadership in fostering teamwork and cooperation. Assists on special projects as well as additional duties and responsibilities as required. Works closely with the information security teams to ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
• Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
• Serve as cornerstone for escalation of system and infrastructure issues, providing timely and effective responses to the business
• Lead projects involving revisions to existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, and input/output requirements
• Define, perform, and maintain system backups and recovery procedures
• Plan, schedule, and deploy system patches, fixes and upgrades
• Create, oversee and test system related security measures
• Monitor, alert and report against systems providing performance statistics and reporting
• Manage vendor partner relationships
• Define standards and implementation strategies for integrating disparate system environments from acquisitions
• Conduct research on systems hardware and solutions for developing and enhancing organizational operation
Job Requirements
• High School Diploma required; BA/BS preferred; Masters a plus
• 5-7+ years of experience in related area of responsibility
• Experience / active certifications in Microsoft or Unix technology desirable
• Experience in cloud technologies preferred
• Experience in an analytical position responsible for managing 200+ production servers
• Expert knowledge in Microsoft or Unix technology managing installs, upgrade, and patching lifecycles
• Expert knowledge with virtualization technology
• Expert knowledge with storage technology and backup management
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing operating system and hardware issues
• Experience deploying and improving system performance tuning and monitoring tools
• Experience with Active Directory, identity management, and SSO
• Experience with configuring and maintaining load balancers
• Knowledge of firewall and network security technology
• Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present ideas in business, executive and associate friendly language
• Highly self-motivated and keen attention to detail
• Ability to learn and follow established change management processes
• Experience in an ITIL environment a plus
• Maintain availability for On-Call rotation
