Responsible for full-service oversight of their assigned communication channels. The Manager is proactive and serves as a subject matter expert: developing, implementing and managing channel strategies, building workplans.
Owned channels: customer letters and emails, utility bills, corporate websites, blogs, marketing emails, internal channels (blogs, TTVN, Yammer, email, COMcentral)
Responsibilities and progression
Senior
The Senior position is distinguished from the Communication Channel Manager by:
Works independently to develop comprehensive, innovative and strategic communication & marketing channel plans for complex and multiple channels (Paid and Digital Channels). These plans include expert analysis on reach, frequency, influence and effectiveness and should include insights on the voice, tone and appropriate tool to engage each target audience and for each channel.
At a senior level, the Specialist is responsible to independently provide information on the budget required to achieve specific goals or inform the client on what can be accomplished within a specific budget.
Responsible to develop a comprehensive profile and persona of the target audience and the appropriate channels to use to reach each audience. This includes the language, tone, tool, optimum time and frequency for these communications.
Responsible for directing and overseeing the work of external vendors, tracking progress and reporting to clients, and ensuring the vendor operates within the approved budget.
Required for Senior 10+ years of relevant experience; or multiple certifications note below.
Channel Manager Level
The Channel Manager is accountable to provide expert guidance on the strategic use of communication channel and tools with limited guidance. They must provide expert analysis of the audience and most appropriate approach for the channel. They are accountable to provide sage advice in the development of the channel objectives, tasks, and alternatives. They will determine appropriate budget requirements for the channel and provide reliable analysis of performance.
Channels change, audiences shift, and techniques evolve, but the Channel Manager is responsible to stay current in their knowledge; always learning new approaches for each channel. Significant amounts of money will be expended, and company goals will be established based on the recommendations and guidance of the Channel Managers.
Required to track customer behavior within these channels and implement adjustments to the campaign to increase effectiveness and efficiencies.
Required to monitor media and external communications. The Manager is responsible to provide leaders with updates on mentions of the company, sentiment across various channels, and early warning of negative sentiments or threats to corporate reputation.
Ensure that external communications are in line with the voice of the Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas brands. Keep the messaging relevant, relatable and responsive.
Accountable for partnering with internal leadership to develop and implement an employee communication strategy and communication plan that informs, empowers and equips employees.
Accountable to partner with Community & Government Relations to integrate stakeholder communications within the Integrated Marketing Communication Plan.
Accountable for partnering with PGS Sales & Marketing team to integrate customer, stakeholder and employee communication within PGSs brand strategy.
With the Brand and Strategy Communications team, contribute to the successful execution of an integrated marketing and communication plan for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas. Identify key goals, plan the strategic use of channels and tools to achieve company goals, and provide basic analysis on the effectiveness of the communication.
As required, produce collateral materials (print, video, photography, multimedia) to support communication projects that are aligned with company priorities and goals.
Accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of the communication vehicles (print, web, etc.)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in design, graphic communication, advertising, communications/public relations, marketing or related field is required. An advanced degree would be an asset.
Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a leadership role in communications, marketing or advertising (7 years for senior level). A role formulating strategic communications held in either a federal, marketing, news environment or regulated entity will be considered an asset.

Digital Marketing Nanodegree with Udacity would be considered a strong asset for all levels.

Available for on-call and after hours work on projects and issues management
Someone whos familiar with email comms and programs such as outlook, mail chimp, blogs.
Light or basic html knowledge would be great but not a deal breaker.
Attention to detail and familiar with Adobe Creative Suite.
