The goal of the Markets and Securities Services Risk & Control function is to help establish and maintain a robust control environment and culture across Citi Markets businesses worldwide. Developing a proactive control approach assists management in achieving strategic objectives, promotes efficiency, reduces the risk of loss, and helps ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. In addition, properly functioning internal controls enable management to deal with today’s rapidly changing environment and prepare for future growth.
The MSS Risk & Control Financial Crimes team supports a sales and trading environment and is looking for a highly energized, dynamic professional who is ready to join a fast-paced, world leader in the financial services industry. The successful candidate will conduct targeted transaction reviews of specific client activity to determine whether additional escalation and review is required. The role includes the review of transaction data as well as due diligence on specific securities.
The incumbent will work across a broad range of stakeholders including Sales and Trading, Business Management, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Technology, to ensure appropriate controls are in place and implementation of key policies is consistent with Citi standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct reviews of client activity and perform due diligence research over available Bank systems, the Internet and Databases consistent with the resolution of investigations.
• Conduct required due diligence on high risk transactions (e.g. low-prices securities, high risk jurisdictions) to evaluate for potential money laundering red flags or other financial crimes.
• Document and report the investigation findings and prepare case file for escalation to AML where required
• Triage payments and identify items appropriate for Senior Management and AML escalation
• Responsible for communicating with internal Citi colleagues, including sales, trading, operations, and AML units to identify additional information for case analysis as well as appropriate resolution of any issues identified.
• Prepare presentations on observations and payments related to potential money laundering activity or other financial crimes.
• Work collaboratively to analyze and establish new review processes and ad-hoc projects.
Qualifications : • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Accounting (other fields to be considered as well).
• At least 3 years of AML or Sanctions experience.
• Adept understanding of complex financial products and transactions including equities, derivatives, foreign exchange, prime brokerage, custody, etc. Knowledge of Citi Markets businesses preferred.
• Ability to independently refer to policies and procedures and put it into context
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong desktop/PC skills, including Advanced PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Capable of juggling multiple tasks, recalibrating as priorities change; deadline and quality driven.
• Must be able to work in a team environment; listens and works well with others; delivery-focused and open to different ideas/viewpoints.
• Self-motivated and detail oriented
