Job Description
TTI-FSS is currently accepting applications for a Shipping/Receiving/Yard manager. This is a dual report position to both the Logistics Manager and Facility Manager. The primary function in regards to shipping is to coordinate, plan, stage and oversee the loading of materials by communicating with the Logistics Manager (LM). The primary function in regards to the facility yard is to coordinate and supervise the yard personnel to facilitate the needs of the shop by communicating with the Shop Superintendent.
Essential Functions:
• Support all company Safety Policies to help ensure they are followed.
• Support the management of all shipping and yard functions by directing yard personnel and communicating with shop leadership.
• Coordinate and plan shipments by communicating with Logistics Manager, shop personnel and Project Managers.
• Be aware of and plan for upcoming over dimensional and heavy haul shipments by actively taking part in weekly meeting and communicating with Logistics Manager.
• Ensure all shipping activities conform to existing shipping procedures and all documentation is completed to support same procedures.
• Have a complete understanding of both existing shipping procedures and responsible parties.
• Monitor and check all loads to ensure all parts are loaded safely.
• Monitor loading against shipping tickets/BOL to ensure all components make it on the loads and/or relay any issues to the Logistics Manager.
• Ensure loads are documented and pictures are taken.
• Take a proactive lead in support of company maintenance program and ensure all operator checklist’s and inspections are documented and submitted.
• Know all personnel and their attributes to plan for the most productive placement,
• Ensure all personnel maintain required training certifications.
• Support and maintain 5S program.
Additional Duties:
• Additional responsibilities or duties may be required as needed in support of company operations
Quality Standards:
Must be able to understand BOL’s, shipping drawings and be familiar with best practices for tie downs to ensure material is protected.
Teamwork:
Actively participate in coordination meetings and others safety, planning / coordinating and training meetings.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
The meet the minimum requirements to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty above average and always represent the company in a professional manor.
Preferred:
• 5 years DOT knowledge and experience in regards to transportation.
• Over dimension and heavy haul experience.
• Experience loading Flat racks.
• Rigging training.
Education and/or Experience:
High school education and relevant specialized training.
Language Skills:
The Shipping Manager must communicate in a professional manner and show respect both orally and/or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments and foremen.
