Summary:
The Director of Finance is a key senior management role that works across multiple locations providing continuous direction, guidance and business enhancement recommendations to all levels of Ashley management.  This position is responsible for budget development and adherence, X to Y project direction, inventory controls, government, legal and audit compliance and representation.
This position must maintain the integrity of the operational accounting aspects of the financial statements such as sales, inventory and operating expenses.  This position is responsible successful guidance and development of a large team of professional staff members. The Director of Finance is a business partner in Operations Management with the mission of business success and performance excellence necessary to keep Ashley Distribution growing and successful.
Responsibilities:
• Define and implement Global Integrated Distribution KPI’s to drive attainment of operations goals and initiatives. Implement daily and weekly KPI reporting throughout the organization to drive better visibility of results to goals.
• Organize and develop single source of data for all warehouse/distribution reports and metrics. Manage and lead cross-functional management teams directed at cost reduction initiatives
• Partner with regional operations and finance leaders to identify and drive operational and financial improvement initiatives in the regions, including but not limited to margins and costs.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering and accounting teams to ensure project cost forecasts and costs incurred are accurately reported to enable accurate revenue and gross margin reporting and forecasts
• Act as financial advisor to the ops team in interpreting financial results and variances, identifying root causes, and implementing countermeasures.
• Responsible for all warehouse/distribution cost accounting systems for all locations
• Advises on long-term business planning and manages banking relationships for transportation
• Develop, mentor, lead inventory control program for all shop locations.
• Partner with the VP ADS Finance and other operations leaders in the development of the what winning looks like, Monthly forecasts, annual operating plan and LRP.
• Coordinate physical inventory and cycle count processes across all shop locations.
• Coordinate the development, monitoring and analysis of standard labor, overhead rates to ensure costs are appropriately stated for management reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering and accounting teams to ensure project cost forecasts and costs incurred are accurately reported to enable accurate revenue and gross margin reporting and forecasts.
• Assist with the development of capital budget and capital spending requests
• Analyze reported monthly results, including but not limited to variances and productivity, to ensure they are properly reported.
• Develop and implement processes and manage teams focused on lowering costs, improving quality and increasing thought-put within all warehouse and distribution areas.
• Performs the ‘business decision’ review of legal and regulatory documentation, monitoring internal controls and compliance with laws and regulation
• Understand corporate structure to ensure ability to contribute to month end close process flow, visibility and support of annual audits
• Develop, mentor and lead freight design costing teams globally. Improve measures of design to standard costing over time
• Support of US transfer pricing where needed
• Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
• Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
• Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
• Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
• Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.
• Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials.
