Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $19.23-$24.04/hour based on experience.
DUTIES:
A Senior Biological Scientist (Microbiology Lab Technician) is needed for a cutting-edge environmental microbiology laboratory in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of South Florida (https://www.usf.edu/arts-sciences/departments/ib/). This is a 20 hour per week position that could become full-time. The job requires knowledge of culturing bacteria and extensive experience in general molecular biology methods and quantitative PCR. The position involves collaborative projects, but a successful individual must also be able to work independently. The ideal candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including scientific writing for reports and publications. Inclusion on publications and involvement in grant-writing is possible.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a natural or medical science and 2 years of research experience; or a Master’s degree in a natural science. Progressively responsible experience involving scientific laboratory or field work may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience working in a research laboratory. Knowledge of culturing bacteria and extensive experience in general molecular biology and quantitative PCR.
Special Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including scientific writing for reports and publications.
