Position Summary
The Manager of Data Science will be responsible for supporting Healthmap’s sales, product, operational, and performance initiatives through data research, analytics, visualization, and modeling.  This individual will develop benchmarks for Data Science individuals to ensure analyses are completed on time and accurately. Manager will be tasked with day-to-day concerns and require agility for quick and/or changing deadlines. Manager will review data findings and offer constructive criticism to guide individual employees towards success. This individual is responsible for motivating team members and dissolve barriers to advancement. The manager, like all Data Science teammates, is expected to have personal experience with data analytics. This individual is to have a thorough and current understanding of client data to successfully guide the team.
Responsibilities
• Manages and motivates analysts towards strategic department goals
• Works with department director to properly implement strategic projects with employee skills and schedule
• Determines metrics to measure and evaluate individual and team performance
• Fosters an environment of intellectual curiosity and mentor analysts towards constant improvement
• Performs functions related to problem definition, data collection, interpretation and analysis, visualization, and presentation/communication of results and recommendations
• Maintains a working knowledge of healthcare coding and analytics techniques
• Manages personal and employee time appropriately to deliver results
• Identifies and reconciles roadblocks to success
• Ensures documentation of all processes, analyses, design, data definitions, and development
• Works with various cross-functional teams including sales, product development, clinical, and care services
• Discovers opportunities for team growth or change, and engages with department director to determine best course(s) of action
• Requires HIPAA understanding and complete confidentiality protocols:
• Associate must demonstrate understanding and sign confidentiality documents
• Employee is expected to comply with HIPAA privacy laws and all other federal, state, and local regulations
• Report suspected or detected security events via company provided communication channels
• Follow all company-defined operational policies and procedures
• Protect and maintain confidentiality of company and customer information, policies, and processes

Qualifications
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, public health, healthcare management and policy, or similar background
• 3-5 years’ work experience in analytics, preferably health analytics
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with SQL
• 5+ years’ experience with statistical software such as SAS or R preferred
• Management of large-scale projects and team lead experience
• Per Healthmap’s HR Security Policy, this position is considered HY (high risk for PHI and may require additional training/screening)

• Oral and written communication, often adapted to non-analytical audiences
• Self-starter mentality: ability to take an idea from research to presentation and implementation
