The IT Support Specialist is responsible for analyzing, resolving, and documenting routine to moderately complex information system issues for end-users anywhere in the environment including, network and production applications and hardware.
After the initial 90-day onboarding period, this role will also assume responsibility as part of the monthly rotation for the swing shift hours (Friday through Tuesday, 1:00p.m. until 9:30p.m.) to support the Straz Center operations. This position will also be a member of the on-call rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help Desk Support 50%
• First level support for all end-user issues via phone, chat, and email.
• Install, support, troubleshoot and repair end user hardware and software including workstations, laptops, business applications, and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, mice, phones, and mobile devices.
• Use a help desk system to track, document issues and provide updates.
• Coordination, planning and scheduling for the installation, update and removal of hardware, software, and equipment.
• Create new users in the Active Directory Environment and assists in training end users on hardware, software, telecom, and help desk system.
• Assist with the coordination of presentation software and hardware.
• Coordinate with other team members regarding status of assigned help desk tickets and escalate when unable to resolve a customer's issue or request
• Repair and run new network cabling; assist with Wi-Fi analysis and troubleshooting
Operational Support 30%
• Basic operational support and troubleshooting for our ticket scanners, point of sale system, wireless and wired networks.
Technology Deployment and Inventory Maintenance 15%
• Document and maintain inventory of computing hardware and software in the company.
• Facilitate and coordinate the software and hardware lifecycle management process, including managing surplus and retired equipment disposal.
Special Projects 5%
• Assist IT team with daily procedures, special projects, and other duties as needed.
MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
Associates Degree in Information Technology or high school diploma paired with equivalent work experience providing IT support for over two years
Required Skills/Experience:
• Troubleshooting skills and deductive reasoning sufficient to gather relevant symptoms, deduce probable cause, research information sources, as necessary, and resolve the problem in the minimum amount of time.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees within the organization, as well as strategic vendors and business partners outside of the organization.
• Working knowledge to support:
• Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint
• Remote Desktop
• Mobile Devices
• User creation through Active Directory
• Printer troubleshooting
• Basic networking troubleshooting
Analytical/Interpersonal Skills:
• Detail oriented with strong documentation skills
• Ability to work and communicate with non-technical staff
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of the IT team
• Ability to manage priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Preferred but Not Required:
• Microsoft Teams and End Point Manager
• Certifications such as A +, Network +, MCP, MCTS, Security + are a plus
