He angitūtanga: About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity available for a self-motivated but team focused person. As our Ranger Biodiversity, Heritage and Visitor, you will be part of an integral team within the North Head/Maungauika region. This position will be based and primarily at Rangitoto/ Motutapu but also providing visitor heritage and biodiversity tasks across the Inner Islands District. The role is critical to the support the on-going stoat incursion on Motutapu and the high number of contractors working on island at present.
In this role you will:
• Carry out planned work to high standard, on time and within budget
• Provide technical advice, guidance and support to the team members in your area of speciality.
• Monitor the delivery of the assigned work plan and report progress and issues
• Provide day to day field supervision of employees, volunteers or contractors as required for a specific task
• Contribute to the delivery of the work plan

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have skills, knowledge and experience in the following:
• The ability to organise work projects and lead teams in the field
• A working knowledge and experience using computer databases and management information systems
• Demonstrate strong health and safety leadership
• Proven excellent organisational skills, including the ability to balance competing demands, meet deadlines and have a problem-solving approach
• Be able to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a proven ability to write accurate, clear and concise reports
• Some experience or willingness to engage and working in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua
• A full manual New Zealand Driver's licence
Desired:
• Specialist skills and experience within one or more of the following areas:
• Management of facilities, amenities and sites, visitor information, visitor hazard management systems, construction and maintenance of sites and assets, visitor risk management
• Experience in carpentry and facilities management, planning of pest and plant control operations
• First Aid certificate, Dangerous Goods Handling certificate
The working schedule for this position on Motutapu is 10 days on / 4 days off however there may be some flexibility with the working schedule.
It is essential that your application outlines the key skills and experience for this role. We are keen to understand how you will meaningfully contribute and add value to Te Papa Atawhai, our kaupapa and our people.
This role has been identified as a Children's Worker role under the Children's Act 2014. A successful appointment to this role will be subject to police vetting.
