Full Job Description The Sr. EHS Coordinator will work for Mizkan America, Inc. at the Owensboro, Kentucky (Ragu) sauce plant. The plant is a high speed processing and packaging facility which produces sauces for both the Ragu and Bertolli pasta sauce brands. This position reports to the EHS Manager and works 2 nd or 3 rd shift. This job description reflects assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
Overall Responsibility :
Under direction of the plant EHS Manager, the Sr. EHS Coordinator provides hands-on support for multiple aspects of the plant's environmental. health and safety activities. These duties include but are not limited to plant-wide safety audits, personnel safety, recordkeeping and reporting, incident investigation, training and other administrative duties as required. The Sr. EHS Coordinator assumes responsibility for the successful completion of EHS assignments to ensure the plant’s adherence to all applicable, federal, state, and local regulations.
Daily and as Required:
• Coordinates and conducts EHS inspections and/or audits, performs analysis, documents findings, performs risk assessments and reports on corrective actions.
Assists in development, presentation, documentation and tracking of compliance and company specific EHS training.
Provides assistance to EHS Manager for implementation and delivery of SMS and Safety Calendar.
• Joins plant meetings and committees as a Safety Department Representative, following through on assignments as reasonable and as time allows, as assigned by the Department Manager.
• Serves as a First Responder and Provides initial First Aid, medical treatment and, assessment of associate injuries with basic investigation, collaboration on corrective actions, and ability to report correct information back to plant and departmental stakeholders.
• Builds understanding of Department KPI’s and KAI’s, working to meet departmental goals.
• Assists Safety team in providing Hearing Tests and Radiation Protection Training as assigned by the Department Manager.
Assists with implementation and maintenance of site security program.
Understands and maintains the Company Security Access Program, including Key and Lock program of the plant and makes key assignments.
• Responsible for coordination of key safety program compliance with the Ammonia Safety Program.
• Directly supports Plant Safety and Environmental Pillars and provides EHS input to other pillars.
• Supports employee requests for shoe vouchers, PPE (Rx safety glasses, etc.) needs and other safety supplies.
• Maintains appropriate levels of PPE in the plant by processing Requisitions, Orders, and DO’s as needed.
• Administers the Contractor Safety Program, developing new safety topics as needed, providing training and yearlong program support. Maintains all recordkeeping in an organized system.
• Assists and supports the EHS Manager on execution and maintenance of:
o Worker’s Compensation Cases
o Environmental Permitting
o Permit Database
o Radiation Program
• In the absence of an EHS Manager, must be able to maintain the OSHA log, required EHS reporting to corporate EHS and coordinate with plant leadership to maintain all EHS programs.
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A college degree or pursuit of a degree or defendable two years of experience in Safety, Security, Environmental, or Health.
• Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-point.)
• Current OSHA 30 training certification is a plus.
• Able to communicate externally/internally with suppliers, company leaders and stakeholders in an effective manner.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Hygiene, OSHA Record Keeping, Worker’s Compensation, Accident Investigation, Electrical Safety, Risk Management, Process Safety Management, Environmental, and Security.
• Must be willing to work multiple shifts and weekends
• Must be willing to travel up to 20%
• Experience in permit and report writing for environmental, chemical and local waste water requirements is preferred.
