Full Job Description The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, scheduling, and retention of all volunteers. The Coordinator is also expected to represent the agency in the community, provide information about sexual abuse and about New Beginnings services.
Responsibilities
• Recruit agency volunteers using a variety of outreach strategies such as community presentations and internet postings.
• Screen potential volunteers using an application and interview process.
• Organize and coordinate volunteer training and ensure compliance with KY training requirements for sexual violence agencies.
• Review and update volunteer application and training materials as needed and at least once a year.
• Maintain adequate volunteer records including complete application forms, background check, contact information, training record, volunteer hours and other required documents.
• Facilitate a supportive environment that conveys appreciation for the contribution of volunteers.
• Provide on-going support and supervision to volunteers.
• Organize and facilitate monthly volunteer meetings.
• Coordinate volunteer appreciation events.
• Network and foster relationships with community agencies, groups, and individual as needed or assigned.
• Participate in community meetings and upon request, represent New Beginnings at public speaking events and provide presentations on sexual abuse and New Beginnings services.
• Coordinate and facilitate community education, training and outreach events.
• In collaboration with staff, plan, organize, coordinate, and implement activities for Sexual Assault Awareness Months.
• Serve as a visible spoke person and advocate for New Beginnings mission, services, and programs in the community.
• Responsible for coordinating donations and fostering relationships in the community.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and activities
• Participate in an "on call" rotation with other staff according to agency policy
• Provide crisis counseling as needed for clients
• Maintain records of services and activities according to agency policies.
• Ensure timely input of statistical data.
• Train in the agency bystander intervention program and implement with other trainers
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor in public relations, marketing, sociology, or related fields or high school diploma and 5 years relevant experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent ability to establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships with community members and organizations
Experience in public speaking and supervision
Ability to work flexible hours that occasionally may include evenings or weekends
Computer skills including Microsoft Office and database programs
Working Conditions
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
• You may be required to talk or hear, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• You may be required to lift or move over 25 lbs.
• Drive to various locations to include schools, shelter, court and community partners.
