Purpose of Position:
This position will be responsible for serving as liaisons between Del Monte Fresh Produce and our suppliers to procure favorable contracts. They evaluate and analyze potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and prepare monthly supply cost reports.
Accountabilities:
• Determining supply needs and researching potential suppliers.
• Acting as a liaison and communicating pricing and performance needs to vendors and suppliers.
• Sourcing suppliers and testing product samples.
• Documenting the features and benefits of products and services.
• Preparing cost-benefit analysis reports for review by managers.
• Negotiating favorable procurement contracts with selected vendors and suppliers.
• Documenting processes and generating monthly supply cost reports.
• Monitoring the company's demand for products to avoid supply shortages.
• Keeping abreast of vendor and supplier-related activities in the industry.
• Identifies risk and consults with internal and external customers to recommend best course of action for impending issues.
• Collaborate closely and effectively with Operations and Sales teams to ensure alignment with Del Monte needs and business operations.
• Develop and constantly improve processes to engage vendors and suppliers and provide recurring value.
• Communicate with the District Sales Managers and the Product Coordinators to gain an understanding of Del Monte's current and future supply of each product line, based on orders and customer requests.
• Manage, enter and maintain sales orders.
• Work with the Office Staff and Office Manager to ensure that all delivery discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner. This involves the gathering and distribution of documents that support order adjustments.
• Send notifications to the appropriate operational department to ensure that all customers will be supplied with the requested product on the requested day. This includes ripening, reconditioning, repacking, tomato, shipping and transportation (where applicable).
• Drive internal process improvement initiatives.
• Design and develop innovative solutions to meet Del Monte & customer requirements.
• Facilitate resolution of Del Monte & customer issues by coordinating responses when required.
• Special projects as assigned.
Minimum Skills Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.
• At least 3+ years of prior experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in electronic procurement and analytical software.
• In-depth business management, supply chain, and strategic sourcing knowledge.
• Must also be detail-oriented and have advanced analytical, critical thinking, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).
• Exceptional negotiation skills.
• Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, etc.).
Preferred:
• Master’s degree preferred
• Deep knowledge of Procurement Industry and Regulations;
• Advanced proficiency in analytics software, SAP and Microsoft Power BI, Excel & Access;
• Bilingual in Spanish would also be a plus
