Job Description:
Summary/Objective: The Technical Expert position is responsible for focused improvement on the assigned line and is expected to develop the operating team’s technical understanding and mastery of process control.  This position is responsible for the centerline process and is accountable for the analysis and accuracy of the assigned line’s Overall Equipment Effectiveness (“OEE”) data.  This position is also responsible for building capability in the operating team and equipment owners to deliver overall line results.

Must be proficient in various computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, LEDS and SAP. Must be able to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Own the Centerline system for the assigned line. Own Change Management process for the assigned line. Lead process definition to identify Centerline targets and document standards. Develop control strategies to enable operators to respond to out-of-control situations. Own integrity of Line Event Data Systems for the assigned line (“LEDS”).  Verify accuracy of the OEE, Stops & Mean Time Between Failure data for the assigned line. Analyze line data to identify and prioritize loss elimination opportunities. Lead root cause problem-solving efforts on key chronic losses for the line/department.  Coach teams on Centerline system execution and problem-solving skills.  Coach and develop Shift Teams by serving as technical coach and resource. Actively participate in Daily Planning meetings and execution of the daily plan. Operate equipment and all associated controls and make needed adjustments. Perform basic mechanical skills.  Perform changeovers and troubleshoot the line without assistance. Must be able to train other team members on process/machinery as necessary. Must possess a basic understanding of math and computers. Understand, observe and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy. Maintain clean work environment and prepare work area for following shift personnel. Possess thorough understanding of all company policies, including GMPs and safety policies. Communicate effectively with other departments, managers, and other employees. Immediately notify maintenance, line operations or supervision of any repairs or adjustments required. If necessary to use powered industrial equipment, the employee must obtain certification to do so immediately. The employee may have to arrive earlier/later than normal when start-ups or changeovers to different products occur.  Check schedule regularly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, holding, gripping, reaching, pulling, stooping, extensive bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, extensive wrist movements, and climbing all day. Work can be performed in extreme heat and cold environments. Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and handle product appropriately. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50 pounds above shoulder level. The employee must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language. The employee must work safely at all times and follow all OSHA (safety) guidelines.
Food Quality, Safety and Security: The employee initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality or safety system.  The employee stops production, if necessary, to correct food safety issues, quality issues, or safety problems.  The employee identifies and records any problems relating to food safety, quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety system.  The employee controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of food safety or quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.  The employee informs line supervisor, production manager, QA manager, or other management personnel of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, heat, cold, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full­-time position, with rotating days off lasting a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours in most circumstances.  The employee must be able to work overtime when required.
Travel: No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED is required.
Preferred Education and Experience: Two+ years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
