Using speed and accuracy, food prep team members prepare the delicious food that we serve to our guests. They ensure the freshness and cleanliness of our ingredients with your fellow kitchen team members, and make sure our food exceeds not only Sus Hi’s standards, but the standards of our guests as well. Food Prep team members prepare everything the front of house team members serve such as rice, proteins, sauces (which we make in-store) and all of our tasty toppings. Food prep team members are expected to have prior restaurant experience in order to ensure the quality that we promise to our guests!
As a food prep team member, you’ll learn how to prepare great food, prepare all proteins, make sauces and prep all produce and toppings. You are responsible for making sure our food is absolutely delicious. The food prep team member enjoys the responsibility of ensuring the quality and safety of Sus Hi Eatstation’s delicious food every day. They see to it that the kitchen is clean, organized and well stocked; and that the equipment is properly maintained and in good condition. Throughout the process they are training and developing other food prep team members, to help them learn to become future Kitchen Team Leader. At its core, as with every position at Sus Hi Eatstation, it is about promoting teamwork and creating a great customer experience. While on the clock, food prep team members are always busy on their feet, accomplishing their station’s goals, taking on tasks that they see that need to get done, and pitching-in to help their teammates.
Additional responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring food quality by cooking and preparing food to order, and following kitchen procedures
• Monitoring food waste and inventory levels, and resolving food quality issues
• Communicating with employees effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput (throughput is the rate of production or the rate at which something can be processed)
• Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
• Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair; making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
• Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all employees meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
• Understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)

Requirements
• Have kitchen experience. Advanced knife skills are A MUST.
• Have knowledge of Food Safety and health department matters
• Have the ability to understand and articulate Sus Hi Eatstation’s core values: Fun, Passion
• Creativity and Integrity.
• Have the knowledge and ability to speak, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location
• Have a high school diploma
• Have restaurant experience
