At BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital ,  the Buyer is to ensure the organization has an uninterrupted supply of goods, services, and equipment at the lowest overall demonstrated cost and to develop, foster, and maintain effective communication and relationships with all internal and external customers.  The Buyer is responsible for effective tactical execution of the direct and indirect materials and the strategic implementation of departmental initiatives to support company objectives. This position will support the effort in creating a culture of continuous improvement that facilitates effective problem solving, process, and product improvement.
In this role, you will:
• Negotiate moderately complex agreements with suppliers and key internal stakeholders.
• Drive existing purchasing process to full electronic purchase-to-pay system.
• Work closely with strategic sourcing to develop, lead, and implement cost savings opportunities research using all available means.
• Participate in ongoing purchasing process improvement efforts; evaluate and recommend best purchasing methods (formal and informal bid processes, purchase orders, disbursements, procurement cards, etc).
• Interpret and evaluate contract provisions, conduct research on requirements, evaluate findings, and make recommendations.
• Conduct spend, data, and market analysis.
• Prepare, coordinate and conduct negotiations.
• Prepare purchase orders through an e-procurement system ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures.
• Compare quotes with the specifications and availability of goods and services, placing practice-wide orders accordingly.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work.
• Determine quantity, product availability, and sources of supply.
• Organize, update, and retain product information files and purchase order records.
• Oversee management of items/catalogs content and usage.
• S&F Support-Invoice management (electronic and hard copy), Hospital Purchase Education, PO Governance, & Buyer Auditing.
• Adhoc reporting sales & purchases.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers; using strong written and verbal skills to communicate in a prompt, professional, and friendly manner.
• Listen to customer concerns and follows-up as appropriate.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
• Education: BA/BS in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, a similar field required.
• Experience: 5+ years of professional procurement experience.
• Medical device and/or healthcare administration or a closely related field preferred.
• Procurement experience must include using best purchasing practices, procedures, and techniques such as determining specifications, placing purchase orders, and processing requisitions.  Working with the RFI/RFP/RFQ process required.
• Knowledge of veterinary medicine is helpful.
