What you will be doing:
• Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
• Complete advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
• Apply advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
• Provide expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
• Expertly adjust technical support to meet emergencies, changing programs or production requirements within available resources and without sacrifice to completeness and accuracy.
• Work with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
• Evaluate and recommend programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering and in accordance with International Association of Class Society (IACS), American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), and Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) standards.
• Support contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval; support budget control directly supporting the engineering effort.
• Provide decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
• Support technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
• Plan, execute, and document surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
• Analyze trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
What you'll need:
• Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• DAWIA Level III Equivalency in Engineering or Science and Technology field; completed all DAWIA Level II non-resident course prerequisites in the Engineering field.
• Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Engineering plus 13 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and safety engineering.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Engineering plus 8 additional years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and safety engineering as applied to the engineering design process, shipbuilding, maintenance, and operation of marine vessels and structures can be substituted for a Masters degree.
• 10+ years of experience shall be a minimum of DoD Acquisition Category (ACAT) III level; ACAT II-level or higher is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience shall be in execution and oversight of naval submarine or ship engineering.
• 5+ years of experience shall be in interpreting and applying technical requirements for DoD and more specifically Naval applications to include development of Systems Engineering documents used to govern the related efforts on a DoD new acquisition program entering the defense acquisition process prior to Milestone B.
• 3+ years of experience in US Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, or Naval ship design, construction or certification processes and criteria.
• 3+ years of experience in the International Association of Class Society (IACS), American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), or Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL).
